CERT IN SLO COUNTY

San Luis Obispo (SLO) County Community Emergency Response Team (CERT) prepares residents to respond safely and effectively during natural disasters. Through training, preparedness, and volunteer service, we strengthen neighborhoods, families, and workplaces across the county.

SLO County CERT trains volunteers to respond to earthquakes, tsunamis, wildfires, flooding, and other natural disasters. Volunteers gain hands-on skills in fire safety, medical operations, light search and rescue, team coordination, and disaster psychology.

Who We Serve:

Our programs support families, individuals, neighborhood groups, businesses, and community organizations throughout SLO County.

→ Paso Robles

→ Cambria

→ Estero Bay (covering Morro Bay, Los Osos, and Cayucos)

Why CERT Matters:

During a major disaster, professional responders may not be able to reach everyone immediately. Well-trained CERT volunteers help bridge that gap, providing essential support and making a meaningful difference in their communities.

Get Involved:

Residents can join a local CERT program to complete Basic Training, participate in specialty courses, and become active members of their community’s disaster response team. Volunteers learn to protect themselves, assist neighbors, and support local emergency agencies effectively.

National and State Alignment & Non-Profit Status:

SLO County CERT is part of the nationwide CERT network endorsed by FEMA and aligned with California Citizen Corps initiatives. San Luis Obispo County Community Emergency Response Team has been classified by the Internal Revenue Service (IRS) as a non-profit, Section 501(c)(3) public benefit corporation, emphasizing its dedication to community service and volunteerism.
