Disclaimer: Complaint submission is deemed to be confidential and will not be shared with any of the candidates. You will be asked for your email address should the Chief Returning Officer (CRO) or SA President discovers the need to investigate such complaint further. Thank you for your cooperation.
VIOLATION DESCRIPTIONS
Any slanderous/libel remarks, defamatory comments, or hate speech made about another candidate, person, or group of people during any campaign event, on a media post, or at any time during the campaign. Past behavior may be considered. Unethical behavior will be defined by the CRO in conjunction with the Elections, Appointment, and Referenda Committee as defined by Section 3.02 Elections Policies and Procedures as well as RRC Polytech policies.
Failure to attend a scheduled meeting (ex. Mandatory Candidate Orientation) without a suitable reason and/or notifying the SA President or CRO of the SA prior to the meeting date. One additional demerit will be added for every day they do not reach out to reschedule a make-up meeting.
Electoral interference, including touching the device that a student is using to vote, watching a student's screen while they are voting, demanding or pressuring a student to disclose who they voted for.
Campaigning outside the campaigning period. Do NOT post anything or do campaigning before Friday, February 24, 2024.
Overspending the maximum campaign spending limit of three hundred dollars ($300) (Section 5.07 Elections Policies and Procedures).
Not submitting the candidate's self-recorded speech and other campaign materials by the deadline (Section 2.02.04 Election Policy and Procedures)
Campaigning/promoting for another candidate through social media or other means.
If found spreading or engaging in privacy or confidentiality of opponents.
It is strictly prohibited to use spamming messages for election campaigning within the college. Such messages are defined as any unsolicited, repetitive, or mass communication sent via electronic means for campaign purposes. Violation of this policy will result in disciplinary action.
If found using 'Red River College Polytechnic' or 'Red River College Polytechnic Students' Association' or any official abbreviations of either organization in candidate social media usernames or campaign website URL.
If found placing campaign materials in unauthorized places.
If found using the official logo(s) for RRC Polytech or RRCSA on campaign materials.
For every $75 spent over the $300 maximum as decided by the CRO.
Any verbal, written, or published promotion or aid to other candidates
Not complying with online rules and/or not submitting online URL sites (Section 2.02 Elections Policy and Procedures).
Failure to submit campaign expenditures sheet (Section 5.07 Elections Policies and Procedures).
If a candidate is found to have accepted external funding without full disclosure or using unauthorized funds without full disclosure.
Visible campaigning and/or visible election material into the Students' Association office unless requested by SA and the Elections, Appointment, and Referenda Committee
If found spreading false information about opposing candidates.
If found defacing or removing opposing candidates' campaign posters or materials.
If found issuing misleading statements or promises to voters.
If found disrupting opponent's campaign events or debates.
Demerit for posts, posters, or comments that are deemed inappropriate, or violate social media guidelines, duplicate posters put up on one board, and/or is not removed in a timely manner at the request of the Elections, Appointment, and Referenda Committee or CRO.
If found campaigning within a designated quiet zone.
If found not disclosing campaigning team within the specified period.
Missing a submission deadline for posters, banners, positioning statements, expenses, etc., will result to one (1) demerit for each 24 hours past the deadline.
Attempting to use SA staff members to promote or assist with their campaign.
