Building more for students, beyond the walls of campus.
Following student approval, the RRCSA is moving forward with the Capital Project Development Fund to help create
student-focused spaces, expand opportunities, and strengthen long-term sustainability.
Why This Fund Exists
The RRCSA has supported student life and advocacy since 1975, funding services, supports, programming, events, and student initiatives through student fees. At the same time, the Students’ Association does not own its own lounges, offices, or buildings and remains limited by available campus space.
This fund creates the opportunity to look outside the four walls of campus and begin developing spaces and opportunities that directly respond to student needs while helping build a stronger future for student services.
What Students Have Been Asking For
Better Food Options
Improved places to eat and drink.
More Student Space
More study, hangout, and relaxation spaces.
Affordable Housing
More reasonably priced student housing options downtown.
Accessible Open Areas
Consistent accessible and open spaces for students.
What the Fund Can Support
The Capital Project Development Fund is intended to help the RRCSA purchase, develop, and create student-focused spaces and revenue-generating opportunities that improve student life and help support the Students’ Association over the long term.
- Affordable student housing opportunities
- New student lounges and gathering spaces
- Expanded food service options
- Facilities and developments adjacent to campus
- Revenue-generating opportunities that help support services, advocacy, programming, and events
Long-Term Vision
The goal is to begin with opportunities adjacent to the Exchange District Campus and, over time, pursue
similar growth opportunities near the Notre Dame Campus.
How the Fee Works
Per term for students taking 7 credit hours or more
Per term for students taking less than 7 credit hours
Approximate monthly equivalent for most full-time students
Regional campus students are not subject to this fee
The Bigger Picture
This fund is about creating more than a building. It is about creating lasting student value.
By building a dedicated capital development fund, the RRCSA can pursue new spaces and opportunities that improve the student experience while also reducing long-term reliance on student fees alone through future revenue generation.
Implementation Timeline
With student approval now in place, the Capital Project Development Fund is scheduled to take effect beginning in Fall 2026.
Looking Ahead
The RRCSA is committed to using this fund responsibly and strategically to expand student opportunities, improve space and access, and build something meaningful for current and future students.
