FederFARMA.CO: the largest national network of independent pharmacies
To enable head office processes aimed at developing the network's product offering and supporting collaboration with the pharmaceutical and over-the-counter (OTC) industry, a data warehouse platform focused on the return sales data of participating pharmacies was activated. The chosen technology platform is based on Oracle Database Enterprise 12C on an ODA (Oracle Database Appliance), fully managed through the commercial profitability application from Dialog Sistemi's E3 Suite, which, in addition to providing application and reporting tools, offers system support and complete outsourced infrastructure management.
The Data Warehouse manages several key information flows: daily sales data collection from the approximately 2,000 pharmacies participating in the project; purchasing data collection and cost of goods sold calculation, to support margin measurement; product and pharmacy master data acquisition, with a categorization particularly suited to commercial analysis, managed by the FederFARMACO team; and finally, the three-year historical database, which contains approximately 2 billion receipt lines, providing a solid foundation for in-depth analysis and advanced reporting.
Users are divided into two categories:
• branch users: they use the data through the interactive navigation tools of the E3 Suite and can go into the details of each individual pharmacy, to help the proposal improvement processes
• pharmacies: they receive monthly commercial reporting, with the turnover and margin trends, compared with the geographical area benchmark; this allows them to quickly identify category gaps and product opportunities
FederFARMACO has therefore chosen to rely on the Platform of Performance Management E3, evaluating as strengths:
Through the Data Warehouse platform managed with the E3 Suite, significant business results were achieved. Complete information availability allowed network assistants to effectively support pharmacies, improving oversight and operational management. A project to develop objectives with the industry was also launched, translated into concrete goals and tailored for the affiliated network. At the same time, the data was made available to individual pharmacies, enabling them to independently conduct product review and review processes and, more generally, optimize their commercial offerings.
