Crohn’s disease is a form of inflammatory bowel disease (IBD) that, along with ulcerative colitis, greatly affects quality of life in affected patients. Beyond the disease itself, it is also associated with various comorbidities that can further affect quality of life and outcomes. Patients with Crohn’s disease are at an increased risk of developing at least one comorbidity. Research indicates that these comorbidities may vary depending on various phenotypes of the disease and that non-gastrointestinal comorbidities can affect gastrointestinal outcomes.
