An appropriate diet can help patients achieve symptomatic remission and lessen the severity of disease flares, and following nutrition guidelines can also lower the risk for other diseases associated with ulcerative colitis complications and progression. However, owing to its effect on the gastrointestinal system, there is still nuance in nutrition and diet recommendations that depend on severity and other patient factors.
