Black is all I know
They say you reap what you sow
I should’ve ran when you said go
But I refused and said no
Now my heart’s deteriorating slow
In my veins, acids flow
And through my eyes, fire will show
My mouth will speak and its words will blow
Thank you for letting me live in someone’s shoe
I would miss for what you do
I thank you for the clue
My dark life had seen the light and grew
I miss you now because it’s true
These thoughts that pop, I’ll try to chew
For in spite of what made me new
I cease to find somebody new
As I sit here with my hunched back
I long to stand but I’m stuck
I wish I can turn time back
For all I know is black.
This is part one of my weekly blog series covering poems that have colors as titles. Want to see the sequel?
