White (Guest Version)

White is all I seek

In this world so bleak

You were all that was mine

You had something I couldn’t define.

Then the world fell at our feet.

And everything went bittersweet

I forgot to swallow my pride

And went with emotions I couldn’t hide.

We used to think we were stars aligned

Our lives and emotions were intertwined

You filled up every part of me that had cracked

And you didn’t mind me for everything I lacked

But I let you go and I went on my own

Now the memory of you chills me to the bone

Because even if I’m now a different enigma redefined

My feelings for you can not be left behind

Now I’m looking for light in the dark

While wanting to forget the past so stark

Now I hope you’re glad with the path you chose

As I go on and seek for white in the shadows.

I’ve written a poem White before. It was for a series of poems with colors (white isn’t a color though. I forgot what it was called in art.) as titles. The first of the series is Black.  A friend of mine (real life friends)  had written his/her own sequel which kinda makes me conscious of my own writing skills.

The Tree

I am a towering Tree
None can surpass me
I look down upon Saplings
And laugh defiantly

I am a towering Tree
I’m the tallest I’ll ever be
The Sky can only see me
For you have only reached my knee

I am a towering Tree
Loggers are now I see
they cut me down with glee
They pull my trunk through the debris

No longer am I a towering Tree
You have grown and surpassed me
I look up upon Saplings.
Oh how I wish you can forgive me!

Colors: White

Who scorched my brain white?
Today I think of hollow thoughts.
I may not be sane tonight
for the waterfall’s edge is tied in knots

Storms, flood, hail and a drizzle,
may have overflowed the river
but for every drop, they evaporate with a sizzle
My mind doesn’t seem it will break its fever

If medicine fails to freeze
the burning ache inside my mind.
If even time cannot make me feel at ease
what solution can I find?

The life-giving river has now dried
And the last drop has vaporized.
With no apparent cure at sight
I shall continue to see white.

This is part two of my blog series covering poems. The first part is Black.

Black

Black is all I know
They say you reap what you sow
I should’ve ran when you said go
But I refused and said no

Now my heart’s deteriorating slow
In my veins, acids flow
And through my eyes, fire will show
My mouth will speak and its words will blow

Thank you for letting me live in someone’s shoe
I would miss for what you do
I thank you for the clue
My dark life had seen the light and grew

I miss you now because it’s true
These thoughts that pop, I’ll try to chew
For in spite of what made me new
I cease to find somebody new

As I sit here with my hunched back
I long to stand but I’m stuck
I wish I can turn time back
For all I know is black.

This is part one of my weekly blog series covering poems that have colors as titles. Want to see the sequel?

The Sailor (Edited)

Arrows drown the sea
The defiant sky mumbles
Displays of forks are seen
The pained earth grumbles

Loud whispers orchestrate the waves:
Some sit idly
Some dance wildly
And some read violently

The storm brews a mess,
But it does not bother
This man on wood and steel
Who was a sailor like no other

His transport, propelled by love
He dared to smash the border
To prove his noble intentions
He pushed the ship harder

Tides of misfortune
Crash against the hull
But he trudges on
As icy cold wind pierces his skull

Discouragement lashes like the gust
It shakes the sea violently
Titlting the boat hard
He grips the rails firmly

The ship rages and batters
His ship, a man in tatters
Mercy he seeks
And in a blink, the storm scatters

Happiness seizes control
Dethroning fear in his heart
Realization pushes it aside
And sadness engulfs and leers like a dart

The woman he pursued
Whom he showed that he can
Offer love like a mother,
Was already with another man.
