Why upgrade to an Accessible Pedestrian Signal (APS)?
Although the Bulldog III comes with several ADA-compliant features, it is not an APS, and it is not PROWAG compliant. APS include several additional features that have been shown to improve crossing performance for pedestrians who are blind, visually impaired, or deaf-blind, including tactile arrows, audible and vibrotactile indications, and customizable extended button press features.
Soon, PROWAG (a new set of technical specifications that are expected to be adopted soon) will require cities to provide APS anywhere a pedestrian signal is provided. Cities can future-proof for PROWAG by upgrading intersections to APS now.

Bulldog FAQs
What is the Bulldog?
The Bulldog is the most durable pedestrian push button on the market. Its ADA-compliant Piezo-driven solid state switch works in all weather and endures severe impact without breaking.
Because the Bulldog beeps when you press it, is it an APS?
No. The Bulldog is not designed to communicate pedestrian signal information; it lacks a locate tone, and does not emit audible and vibrotactile signals when the Walk signal is on. At intersections where APS is needed, consider installing the iDS / iNS instead.
Are Bulldogs directional?
The Bulldog is intended to be installed with the LED at the top and the drainage holes at the bottom.
Is the LED required to remain or “latch” on when pressed?
If your agency follows current PROWAG guidance, if the button has a light, it is required to latch on.
Are Bulldog buttons watertight?
The Bulldog is tested to meet or exceed NEMA 250-6P standards for rain, snow, and submersion.
