Friday 04/10/2026 | 2005 | Boxster S | Wheels and Tires
My 2005 987 Boxster is equipped with Stark after-market 18" wheels ("fake Fuchs") and Michelin Pilot Sports (see photo). They feel good on the car, and I like the look. The previous owner (a local Pcar friend) is interested in trading straight across for a very clean set of 19" stock lobster claw Porsche wheels and similar Michelin Pilot Sport tires. Any insights on 18" vs 19" wheels for this car? Any handling considerations? Any opinions on the cosmetics or resale issues? Thanks for your vi ...

READ ANSWERWhen I'm driving with the top up and once the car is warmed up, I heard a subtle popping sound on the left side. Sounds like "puck". It's random vs. continous.
Thursday 03/05/2026 | 2005 | Boxster S | Other
The sound reminds me of a water dripping into a cup or pot. It's weird. When the top is down I do not hear it but that may be based on more outside noise.

My car ticks at idle. If I give it just enough gas to get above 850 - 900 RPM, the ticking sound goes away. I don't find that I'm burning oil, I've had the lifters and clutch replaced, and the car otherwise seems to run strong. I had an engine oil analysis done (I don't know who the mechanic sent it to though) and they said there was no metal in the oil (did they test for aluminum? I don't know). Any thoughts on what could be causing the ticking? Thanks, Da ...
