Anyone good with the fueling system and able to lend a hand?

Thursday 05/21/2026 | 1982 | 924 | Fuel System

Hey guys,We are working on getting our '82 924 back onto the road after it hasn't been on the road in at least two years but we are having some really weird issues with what we believe is the fuel system. The fuel pump relay is currently on a switch. The car starts up just fine and idles well, but under load the car breaks up something terrible and the gas gauge bounces all over the place. We took her on a maiden voyage and after getting up to about 45 and warming up, she fe ...

Wednesday 05/20/2026 | 2014 | Boxster | Engine

The Boxster Expert, Mr. Pedro Bonilla, is following up on my issue and asked me again: “Where did it break exactly?”Thank you for your follow-up, Pedro. According to my mechanic, the failure occurred at the mounting / bolt area of the CV axle, specifically where the inner CV joint / axle flange attaches to the transmission / differential output flange. He advised me that 5 of the 6 CV axle bolts are missing ...

For street use, should I set the cold tire pressures at the recommended tire pressures listed on the placard (36/39 for 21 inch wheels) or should I set them so that the TPMS readings are zero or +1, etc? The two methods are not internally consistent.

Check engine light

Wednesday 05/20/2026 | 2021 | 718 Cayman GTS 4.0 | Engine

I have a 2021 Cayman 4.0. When the car is warmed up and cruising, if I mash the pedal to the floor, the Tach winds up and when it hits the rev-limiter, the "Check engine" lights come on. "ECU Problem Safe to drive". No shifting on my part, all PDK. They've updated software, cleared codes, and replaced sparkplugs. It's back at the Dealer for the third time and the problem isn't being fixed! Any thoughts? Thanks. ...

Audio Upgrade Options for 2005-2008 987.1 Boxster

Just received a "new to me" '06 987.1 Boxster Base, w/ a CDR24 Installed. I'd like to upgrade the Audio so I have Bluetooth & Hands Free Calling. Additionally, I'd like a backup camera, maybe a dash cam and navigation but those are wants, not needs. The care DOES NOT have BOSE Audio. Gathering information as to compatibility has been very very difficult. What affordable options are out there that blend seamlessly with the original styling, are compatible and have a "Plug & Play ...

Reading the Tech Q&A in May, 2026 Panorama about the Boxster headlights not working properly reminded me that I had the same issue when I acquired my 2003 Boxster 14 years ago. After removing the selector knob in preparation to replace the light switch, I noticed the switch shaft was hollow. So on a whim I sprayed contact cleaner down the hollow shaft until it was draining out the back of the switch, then rotated the switch thru its travel & it has worked flawlessly ever since.

This is follow up to "why won't codes reset after I replaced the battery". Casey asked what codes? There are several: DME, PSM, ICM, TPMS, VES, SCS, DSD, PSD & FEE. I attempt to clear them with my icarsoft tool, they don't seem to clear. Then after a bit of driving the check engine message pops up?

Does PCA or Porsche offer a way to check the recall history of a car by vin?

Saturday 05/16/2026 | 2017 | Macan | Other

I'm considering buying a used Macan. I know there were recalls (not currently open) so I want to get the recall history so I may confirm service records document completion of all recalls. I don't see this option on Porsche NA. BMWCCA offers this service as a member benefit so I am hoping we have similar. I don't see a link on PCA.org and search reveals nothing useful.

PDK service

Car has 88000 miles on it. PDK clutch fluid was changed at 56000 miles in October 2017. I have done track events with this car but did not have it in sport auto (shifts at higher revs). I had it in sport manual while on the track. No longer doing track events and I have not noticed any odd behavior with shifting. I am almost always in manual mode but not sport. Based on the information provided, what if any maintenance is recommended at this time? Is it time for clutch fluid change due to age ...

To deal with the common cam shaft housing oil leakage problem, especially towards the rear of the housing, are there any solutions besides replacing the gasket, which was done recently?

Friday 05/15/2026 | 1985 | 944 | Engine

I bent valves a few years ago, requiring machine shop repair of the head for the bent valves and considerable effort to put everything back together. Presently, especially after not using the car for an extended time, there is oil leakage from the cam housing onto the exhaust. The car was bought new by me. When I did the rebuild after the bent valves, there was no gasket between the housing and the head. Instead, there was a strong black gasket material which was very d ...

frog croaking sound normal?

Wednesday 05/13/2026 | 2010 | 911 Carrera S | Engine

For as long as I've had this car (nearly 9 years) there has been a sound most easily heard at idle that sounds like a frog croaking. I recently installed a new AC compressor and the sound changed. The local Porsche dealer did an evac and charge and the sound is still present but more like it was prior to the compressor change. I never was concerned with the sound, I've put 34,000 miles on the car and not had a problem. Is this a 'normal' 997.2 sound? The tech at the dealer used a stethos ...
