AGM Battery

Monday 05/11/2026 | 2001 | 911 Carrera 4 Cabriolet | Electrical

My battery won't hold a good charge anymore and think it's time to replace. The car will start but you can tell battery is getting weak. My question is should we stay with conventional battery or go with newer style AGM type? Car runs and drives great, no issues at all & well maintained since we purchased it about 2+ years ago. picture is of current battery, it seems to fit correct. My mechanic that surveyed the car when we first brought it to him said battery ok, but this was almost 3 ye ...

Broken CV Axle / Axle Shaft at 80K Miles - 2014 Porsche 981 Boxster

Following up on my prior question regarding my 2014 Porsche 981 Boxster base model, manual transmission, with less than 80,250 miles. As previously explained, the failure occurred while driving normally in 3rd gear at approximately 4,500 RPM. The car was not being tracked, launched, or abused.Mr. Pedro Bonilla kindly responded that, at this mileage, such a failure is not common unless a CV boot had been torn, the grease escaped, and the joint ran dry.I now ...

New AC Compressor whirring

Sunday 05/10/2026 | 2010 | 911 Carrera S | Heating and Ventilation

Hello,I recently replaced the compressor, expansion valve, condensers and receiver dryer as my old compressor had a leak. There was no refrigerant left in the system when I started. I ran flush solvent through the lines that I could but not the evaporator. I noticed that the oil that was present when I disassembled things was orange in color. I got the new parts installed, flushed the system with nitrogen, pulled a vacuum and charged the system. I only saw temps in the mid 50s at th ...

1999 996 Carrera 4 upgrades

Saturday 05/09/2026 | 1999 | 911 Carrera 4 | Performance Modifications

Hi fellow Porsche peeps :)Curious to hear what performance upgrades you all recommend for a mostly stock C4 from 1999 that don't break the bank. This one has the factory sport suspension setup (code 030). So far, I have gotten wider wheels and tires and a smaller and thicker steering wheel. More power would be nice (isn't it always), and I'd be game for better brakes, modest / simple-ish suspension tightening, a different sound (Gundo hack??)... must still pass California smog. ...

2014 Porsche 981 Boxster – CV Axle Failure at Less Than 81K Miles: Normal or Unusual?

Saturday 05/09/2026 | 2014 | Boxster | Engine

I would appreciate the opinion and experience of fellow Porsche owners regarding a recent issue with my 2014 Porsche 981 Boxster base model (manual transmission), currently with less than 80,250 miles. While driving normally in 3rd gear at approximately 4,500 RPM, I suddenly experienced what appears to be a failure of the axle/CV shaft. The car was not being tracked, launched aggressively, or otherwise abused at the time.My question is:Is this considered a "normal" or rela ...

The passenger side rear window appears to have come off the track on my 2008 997.1 cabriolet. When raising the convertible roof I heard a loud clunk and the window fell down. I was able to raise the window by hand and it is not broken. Is there guidance available to access the area and assess/fix the window track?

Finished installation of engine/transmission in my 2010 cayman. While tightening the outer large nut to the axle to set torque (340 lbs) the threads stripped. Did I do something wrong or is this common on higher mileage caymans. What steps would I take to avoid this when installing the new axle. I am using a large torque wrench that I use to torque center lock wheels on my 992.1 GT3-- that torque value is much higher. ...
