My brain is dead

real life has killed it in a fashion it hasn't for over a year and honestly there have been moments today when I have strongly considered packing me and the kids into the car with a couple of bags of stuff and the contents of my bank account and disappearing off somewhere where no one would find us.

But sod real life lets worry about the important stuff, why can't I write? why will my brain not find a way in to chapter 7 of Lestrade's children? its 11 days since i posted chapter 6 and I haven't written a word of the next chapter or even formulated an idea!

Is there a special place I can go to get an idea? go on tell me that there's a magical place I haven't yet found that will give me kick I need to get going. Please ;-)

Love to all

We had another day of water related activities today and when I got up this morning to a frozen car and as much mist as yesterday I was almost sure it was going to be a mistake.

Today was the first proper day of our holiday and me, Shorty and Tiny set off for the beach and were caught on film by my dad.

I don't like having my photo taken really but I think I like that one :-)

6 months on

I really can't believe that its been just me and my girls for six months now, where did the time go?

Its 13 months since I last slept for five hours or more two nights in a row but I'm hopeful that my Bedroom decorating plans might help with that, I guess at some point I'll get over the problem one way or another whatever happens.

On Saturday Shorty and Tiny helped me strip paper from my bedroom walls and I continued the job on Sunday while they were out before giving up and thinking the last layer would never come off. My dad had other ideas though and he decided that he could sort it and on Monday morning he jumped in his car and drove 100 miles to my house and spent eight hours steaming and stripping my walls. He did a great job and he played with the kids before they went to bed before he got back in his car and drove home.

It was lovely of him and I was glad of his help but it was even more lovely because he was already planning to come today to put lining paper up and without even a question he got back in his car this morning and drove back up here.

My room is now magnolia or whatever colour it is that lining paper comes in and over the next week it will turn pink and black and all the furniture will be moved around before my dad comes back next Tuesday to do any bits I haven't managed myself. Then hopefully sleep will happen although I try not to believe in miracles too often.

I like decorating but there is something about the six month mark that makes me feel a strange mix of things that seem to have me on the edge of laughing, crying and shouting all at the same time which is making this job a bit more difficult than normal so the help of wonderful people really comes in handy :-)

Help

right people who know everything, that's you lot reading this :-)

My soon to not be Mother in Law has had my kids for a couple of hours, they go to their dads after school on a Wednesday but he doesn't get in until 530 so really they spend most of the time with her. She told me they were going to bake which the kids love so that all sounded good

But

Shorty came home talking about baking a cake without butter or margarine because it was a diet cake and everyone needed to lose weight after Christmas. Granny had been telling her about her new weightwatchers cook book and all the low fat recipes shes going to try out when they're there because they've all eaten too much chocolate over Christmas. Daddy dropped them off here and joined in the conversation about them all being on a diet in there house and needing to lose weight.

Shorty is 5 perfectly proportioned and completely healthy she doesn't need to diet but I also think that she doesn't need to be told all about them.

I'm cross that he's gone against something I thought we agreed on but I don't know if I'm unreasonably cross so here's the question

Would you discuss the need to diet and lose weight with a five year old?

So I can't track everyone down and send cards for Christmas and lets be honest if a card from a random person arrived at your door you'd probably be rather freaked out by it so

Here is the closest I can doCollapse )

flowers

My beautiful daughter bought me these today, apparently "someone should buy you flowers mummy because you like them" so she spent her money from the tooth fairy for losing her first tooth on flowers for me.  I bought her a toy and some sweets so she got a treat as well but how lucky am I to have a daughter like that?

Half term holidays are over now, school is back in the morning and I feel quite sad about it BUT it will be nice to have time to put fingers to keys in some purposeful way again not that my brain is playing fair at the minute or having any ideas but hopefully more time will give my brain a chance :-)

incompetent is the only word for it!

All the holiday plans for me and the kids had been talked about and sorted out and Shorty was expecting Tuesday morning to be her time with Mummy, Tiny goes to nursery on a Tuesday morning so it provides some very rare mummy and Shorty time when she's off school.  Sadly her Mummy is an incompetent idiot who somehow forgot it was Tuesday or more forgot that Tiny should be at nursery.  How on earth after a year and a half did I forget something that simple?

The sensible thing would have been to ring nursery and say she wasn't coming in given it was 845 when I remembered but Shorty was crying at lose her time with me and Tiny was angry about missing nursery so quickly dressed and breakfast biscuits eaten in the car and there we are at nursery.  Every member of staff we saw as we made our way through the building made some joke about us being late or forgetting to get up but the one that really did it for me today was 'Oh dear Tiny is mummy not capable of looking after you properly any more?' It was a joke and I know the woman who said it would never have meant it seriously but how to kick a girl when shes already feeling rubbish!!

We had a morning of not doing much really and Tiny had fun at nursery before I found someone who was capable of looking them properly and sent them both out for the afternoon.

A crappy day, A crappy mood and I'm being crappy to other people, yep incompetent is just about the right word for me today!

unexpected occurence

I have two little girls one of whom is strangely girly given she comes from me and lives with me but my mother-in-law loves that she loves pink and like dresses and she loved buying princess cakes and cards and clothes for her birthday and she has continued in the same vain with the younger one. All very normal for a granny of little girls except that there is nothing pink or girly about the younger one and the pink princess cake she got for her birthday last month got a look I didn't think small children were capable of ;-)

Mother-in-law and father-in-law have just been on holiday and they brought presents back for the girls, mountains of pink clothes and jewellery and princess colouring books and then deep inside the bag there was the most unexpected thing.

toy otorike

I hope that my mother-in-law noticed the big smile she got for this present because tiny was so impressed and I have to say so was I. The obsession with otorikes is getting a little beyond a joke but a none girly present for my very none girly daughter was brilliant.

They might be about to become my ex in-laws but they really are trying to be good grandparents :-)
