Benefits of the MAPS Curriculum for Physical Rehabilitation Clinicians
MAPS provides expert, hands-on, live in-person training in the United States and across the globe for Physical Therapists, Physical Therapy Assistants, Athletic Trainers, Occupational Therapists, and Certified Occupational Therapy Assistants. Maitland-Australian Physiotherapy Seminars presents the Maitland Concept of manual therapy, which uses clinical reasoning and the gentle mobilization of joints (including manipulation when necessary), to ease pain, increase movement, and promote recovery of neuromuscular conditions. The Maitland-Australian Approach expands upon the Maitland Concept with contributions from other manual therapy experts from across the globe. Clinical research tells us that using the Maitland Australian approach leads to better outcomes for patients using simple techniques that can be used safely, effectively, and sustainably by a variety of clinicians.

I loved the thought process taught in the course, as well as a lot of very valuable skills I will be able to use in the clinic on day one! I also appreciate how so much is based on evidence. Very good course for me!

I liked the in-person patient demonstration and hands-on learning. In-person patient demonstration allowed me to observe how other clinicians (especially a master clinician) interact with patients, following the logic with real-time explanation, and being able to ask questions as we go (not like videos, not able to ask questions when seeing something).

The instructor was engaging and took his time to make sure all participants were involved and understood each of the learning objectives before moving on to other topics. The course itself is set up very well such that it is easy to follow and is applicable to clinical practice. Lastly, the instructor took extra time to further provide knowledge towards general application in the clinic and demonstrate variations of techniques to best fit the needs of each participant in the course.

I’m really glad I took this course, and that this will enhance my treatments with pts. It will also help me to think outside of the box and not be afraid to question my belief system and why I am doing what I am doing. I feel more confident now with the spine.

What Makes MAPS Training So Special?
The Maitland Concept is a hands-on, evidence-based, clinical reasoning approach to manual therapy using the Scientific Method, originally developed by Geoff Maitland. MAPS courses integrate Maitland’s teachings into a more comprehensive Maitland-Australian Approach using evidence-based refinements developed over the past seven decades by other world-renowned manual physiotherapists from around the globe, including D. Butler, C. Cook, J. Cyrias, M. Jones, D. Rivett, and C. Showalter, among others.
