All NJ Movers Must Be Licensed

Hiring a professional mover? Make sure they have a New Jersey license, not just a USDOT or MC number.

🔎 Check if a mover is properly licensed: NJ Division of Consumer Affairs

Intrastate Moves (NJ to NJ) – Estimates Matter

If you’re moving within New Jersey, movers are required to provide a written in-home or virtual estimate.

In-Person Estimates: The estimator should view all items being moved and assess any factors that may impact pricing.
Virtual Estimates: These should not be used to compare companies, as accuracy may vary.
Phone Quotes: Movers may provide a ballpark figure for small moves, but an in-person estimate ensures a more accurate price.

🚨 Beware! Low quotes over the internet or phone may change drastically on moving day!

Trust NJWMA-Vetted Movers

When choosing a mover, go with one that has been vetted for proper licensing and industry compliance.

Movers listed on njmovers.com are verified by the NJ Division of Consumer Affairs.
Avoid scams! Check the Better Business Bureau for red flags before hiring a company.

By hiring an NJWMA-approved mover, you ensure a licensed, reputable, and professional experience.

Tip: Movers are legally allowed to ask for payment before they unload your furniture if the scope of your move changes from the original written estimate.  If the mover did not do an in person estimate at your home, or if you agreed to waive the in-home estimate, or, if more items need to be packed, then the estimate or binding price can be changed.

Ask for a new estimate: Most movers would be more than happy to visit your home again and provide a revised estimate, because it will save you the problems of disputing the final price, and the mover will be able to issue a new estimate for the man power or material that will be needed for a successful move !
