New Jersey Warehouse & Movers Association
Before 1969, the moving industry in New Jersey was unregulated, leaving consumers vulnerable to unethical and unprofessional business practices. Without online reviews or regulatory oversight, there was no easy way to verify a moving company’s reputation.
That changed when New Jersey legislators passed the ‘Public Movers Act’, requiring all movers to:
✔ Be licensed by the state
✔ Maintain minimum insurance coverage
✔ Register with the New Jersey Division of Consumer Affairs
However, many reputable moving companies wanted to go further to eliminate dishonest operators and restore consumer confidence. In response, a group of industry leaders formed the New Jersey Warehouse & Movers Association (NJWMA)—an organization dedicated to upholding ethical business practices, safety, and regulatory compliance.
Why Choose an NJWMA Mover?
Today, NJWMA is the most trusted resource for consumers looking for licensed, professional movers in New Jersey.
✔ Pre-Qualified Movers: Every NJWMA member is verified to ensure their license and insurance are current, and that they have no unresolved complaints with the Division of Consumer Affairs.
✔ Family-Owned & Community-Focused: The majority of NJWMA movers are local, family-owned businesses that hire local employees and actively support their communities.
✔ Committed to Giving Back: NJWMA members participate in meaningful charitable programs, such as:
- Move for Hunger – Collecting and delivering food for local food banks.
- Wreaths Across America – Delivering wreaths to honor veterans during the holiday season.
