Tissue donations meet many needs
Progress in treating common and rare diseases often hinges on access to human tissue. Donated tissues are often in short supply — especially those for specialized needs. NDRI coordinates several disease-specific donation programs to further specialized research into conditions such as Type 1 diabetes, amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS) and HIV. Through these programs, we work with nationwide disease registries to identify potential donors, obtain consent/authorization for donation, and ensure that investigators have access to the human tissues and organs that are so critical to their research.
