bright is my world
orange road leads to the sky
a rainbow smile
bright is my world
orange road leads to the sky
a rainbow smile
small elephants
hope flows from many places
big smiles, all ages
So difficult to sum up this wonderful world of Uganda where my heart is without me. So I share a few.
hearts momentary grasp
a smile of shared kindness
if only this could last
shallow are grey blue waters
when for another do not share
freedom used to ring
for gold we only care
daily the reminders
a smile so white and pure
a child trusts my hand
love is our world’s cure

gathering place
happy red tomatoes
instant friends
The prompt for this week at Poet’s United Mid Week Motif is Independence.
That concept used to be so dear – now is a time when people are enslaved in so many ways.
But I smiled yes I smiled
at the thought of your little hand in mine
we walked on rugged terrain
lots of ups and downs and arounds
you grew yes you grew
I turned one full rotation
and your were grown yes on your own
so many memories trapped in my heart
questions of a child wove through my mind
like glistening ripples in colored water
and I smile yes I smile

To each of you who have loved or parented a child this poem is for you. For without these smiling children our world would have little hope for a warm future.

you stopped by to say “hi” today
I watched you as you left
a petal so fragrant
I could not soon forget
you skipped in moon dust today
fingers drew smiley faces
I wanted to retrace
your fairy foot paces
you commented on my blog today
one moment you spent
a ray of sunshine
you dropped as you went
This is to each of you who stop by for a brief moment and leave a comment. What a gift to say something that can linger as a kindness all day. You make writing these posts a joy.
It matters not the place
US, Africa, Crimea, Mexico..
a smile you can always trace
on the winsome and open face
of a child
This week’s prompt for the Dp photo challenge is Humanity. Sadly when I travel outside of the country (to work), I don’t usually take a camera unless its a throw away type.
If only I could cast away the pain
with a word
or a phrase
holding back the rain
with a red umbrella
If only I could lie here
surrounded by down pillows
candlelight glow
catching every tear
in a crystal bottle
If only we could dance before the moon
white cascade
billowing at our feet
snowflakes in silver spoon
reflecting smiles
If only I could scatter like confetti
rain, tears, snow
like laughter it would go
starlight always ready
into a joyful world

My youngest is a child no longer. Happy Birthday H!!!!

Lifting our voices
waterfall of her memories
love’s smiles she left

Learning to live by the indwelling life of Christ.

Deep into that darkness peering, long I stood there, wondering, fearing, doubting, dreaming dreams no mortal ever dared to dream before. - Edgar Allan Poe
