Microsoft SQL Server 2008 Native Client is a standalone data access library that combines the SQL Server ODBC driver and OLE DB provider to deliver fast, reliable connectivity to Microsoft SQL Server. Designed for applications that use ODBC or OLE DB, it supports key SQL Server 2008 capabilities, including Multiple Active Result Sets (MARS), query notifications, connection encryption, database mirroring failover partners, and integrated Windows authentication. It also enables use of features introduced with SQL Server 2008, such as the date, time, datetime2, and datetimeoffset data types, table-valued parameters, FILESTREAM storage, and large user-defined types. Available for both 32-bit and 64-bit Windows, it can be redistributed with your application and installed side by side with earlier Native Client versions. Note: SQL Server 2008 and this Native Client release are past end of support. For new development, Microsoft recommends the latest Microsoft ODBC Driver for SQL Server.
