She said, “Why do you look the way you do?”
I stopped writing, smiled and replied, “How do you mean?”
“Your eyes are beaming”, she said with a playful grin, and a tilt of her head.
I knew what she was thinking, there must be a new man in my life. She thought I had that look. That “I’m in love glow.” She had seen me wearing it one other time. When I returned home from my trip to Colorado.
I told her that indeed my soul was filled with love. Love for myself. And for one other. My writing.
She seemed skeptical. It wasn’t the answer she was expecting. Maybe she couldn’t relate. Maybe she had only ever known love coming from the outside.
I read her a poem before she returned to her movie.
