How was everyone else's weekends? I went for a drive and got ice cream at DQ one day, and slept the entire other day away. Not exciting, but kind of what I needed.

Seriously thinking I need some sort of agenda or plan for getting through this. Being on physical distancing/stay home since Mar 13 has been getting to me a lot. Any suggestions other than showering/chores/getting dressed every day?

Is anyone else watching this season of Drag Race? It's a painful one so I can understand if you aren't. Between the Pie controversy and the Aiden bashing, there's a lot to unpack. But it is also featuring some of the most talented queens who deserve better, and I am completely watching for them. Who are your favourites if you're watching? Come spill the tea with me!

A day of colouring

Posting tonight while I wait for an upload to appear of tonight's episode of Drag Race. Despite loathing RuPaul, I am too addicted to this show.

Spent the day mostly chatting with people and colouring. I have a ton of adult colouring books, and they are at least helping me kill the time. What are you all watching/doing? If I have to sit through one more episode of mom's tv I may pop a gasket. She leaves it for at least six hours a day on Murder She Wrote, NCIS, CSI, Criminal Minds, and any other show where someone is definitely going to die in the first ten minutes of the episode, gruesomely. I just can't handle it anymore!

Also, why do companies never include shades of orange and purple in their marker and pencil crayon sets? I have about ten blues, but maybe three purples?!

Neighbours suck
Defaultish - best chums on a log

I posted on twitter today encouraging others to reactivate their dreamwidth accounts to attempt to bring back the fandom connections from yore we all miss but never actually do anything to recover. So here I go, with my first post in forever.

I hate my neighbours across the street. Two years ago someone bought the house and made it into an AirBnB. (I hate the company and all it stands for, so that doesn't help with my wrath.) To circumvent the rule about it having to have someone living there, during the eight month college school year "she" rents the upstairs to students at the local college. They themselves are quiet. But they have always ignored the local street parking law. All winter despite it being illegal, they have had people (mostly visitors, but occasionally their own cars) not in the driveway, which already holds two cars for the upstairs but on the street.

The winter no-parking bylaw is still active, and they are still ignoring it. Clearly it's a small thing in the world that just burns my butt, but now that we are all supposed to be social distancing it's getting to me even more. There is a rotation of about 3 cars, and every night there are usually two there on the street. All are driven by males about the same age as the two girls who live there so I originally thought boyfriends but hey, who knows. I don't care who these people are, I just hate that they are clearly not social distancing on top of what bugged me before, and putting my local community at risk by not doing so.

I needed to rant so if you've reached this far, thanks for reading. I want to go leave notes on the windshields telling them they're asswipes for not distancing, but I know that would be an asshole thing to do so I'm resisting.

In other news, dang if I'm going to bring this back to life for real I really need to redo my layout since it appears to now all be photobucket warning headers, lol.

What's shakin'? Had a great dinner out tonight with furiosity and __hibiscus, reminiscing about when lj was actually our online homes. So we all logged back into our accounts (some of us easier than others!) and are having fun over here again. Don't know how long it'll last, but tell me it isn't fun to see that email notification when you get an lj comment!

How do you know that lj is well and truly dead? It wasn't that long ago we all got our news here. And now? My FB has almost twelve hours of "OMGBOWIE!" and I don't have a single one over here.

That just breaks my heart.

Sometimes coworkers drive me bonkers with their stupid lies and stupid internal workplace meladrama. Seriously, if you can't tell the truth you shouldn't be out in public - or should go into politics.

So we're finally into October. Which I just realized may actually be my favourite month of the year, despite it having my least favourite holiday as part of it. And no, before you ask, it isn't because it also holds my birthday.

The weather is cooler, something I really appreciate after this massively too-warm summer. You can still get out and do things, but not melt or freeze while you do them. You can snuggle under warm fuzzy things (or with warm fuzzy things like kitties) and not melt away. You gain an extra hour of time. For Canadians, we have Thanksgiving, so lots of turkey and pies. I do so love a good pie. Plus most people don't try to take October vacations so it's easy to get time off to do a week in NYC like I am this year. So yes, YAY fall!

I'm hoping this also inspires me to do some more reading. I'm behind on my goals, and I don't like that. I have shelves of great looking things to read and never seem to pick them up. I blame my resurgeance in watching television. DAMN TV! What are you all watching still? I went from 30+ hours a week to under 10 . . . and still feel like it's too much!

On Sunday night, a 16-yearold boy in the Ottawa-area town of Eganville allegedly stole a 2002 Chevy Avalanche to go pick up his 13-year-old girlfriend in Pembroke, a 30-minute drive to the north. Two stolen cars, three police chases, a hail of...

Hey guys,

I know a lot of you on here are animal lovers, and so I'm hoping to spread a little love and hope with you all. As many of you already know, a little while ago the city of Calgary, Alberta suffered serious flooding. People who work downtown in the city just got to go back to work today, over a week after it happened. There are a number of excellent organizations working to help the city, and please, if you have the chance I do hope you can look into them.

But my post is for a specific place. The Calgary Zoo suffered serious flooding. 60 million dollars worth. The amazing staff of this zoo managed to save almost all of their animals, losing only a peacock, a pot bellied pig, and a selection of fish. However it is a not for profit organization, and it will desperately require some help to get back to where it was, and to where these animals can be returned to their habitats. All of the attention for the flood has been directed thus far to the Saddledome, because the Calgary Stampede, the city's number one event, is VERY soon. Me, I gave my money directly to the zoo instead, and I'm hoping that if any of you have even five dollars to spare, you could share it with them and show some love. I'm not a big lover of zoos but these people managed to do an almost impossible thing in saving so many animals, and that love and devotion deserved a bit of love back in my mind.

Every day is a winding road ...

So apparently my body's new wakeup time is 6am. It's been 5 days in a row now no matter what time I go to bed. I am enjoying the whole being productive with 2-5 extra hours each morning but . . . I like sleep? I like being able to stay up later and talk to my night-hawk friends. However I tell myself this is supposedly a healthier sleep schedule and we haven't had those annoying dreams for a few days. Generally my mood has been better this week and I made it into work 6 days in a row. Little baby steps, right?

Also I seem to have conditioned my cat to assume that if I clean the litter box she gets a can of wet food . . .

I'm really beginning to hate nightmares. I don't get the super scary ones that wake you up frantically calling loved ones to make sure their house hasn't burned or anything logical like that. No, every night, sometimes multiple times, I get little ones, like being back in school and having no idea where the test I'm already late for is being held. Or shopping and forgetting my wallet and being arrested. Or my personal least favourite, having my place burn down and having all of my friends I call for support not answer the phone when I need a place to sleep. This isn't the first time I've had these types chronically, but until this morning I was in denial about what they mean. These are the types I get when I'm in a low depressive state, and yeah, all the signs are pointing there. My apartment is a disaster, I'm chronically sleepy, I never actually want to go to work, and I have no desire to do anything. Especially social outings. I've cancelled three in two weeks, and as most of you know, I'm usually the one begging people to come out.

I just wish I knew why this was happening. I had a great weekend, dinner with friends I haven't seen in ages and a trip into Toronto to see Book of Mormon. The weather has been lovely, and work is going well. So why am I constantly down and worried that people hate me and utterly loathing my physical appearance again?

Sorry to do such a downer post, but I'm trying to be more active in posting again, and by writing it out it helps me wrap my brain around it. And remember it all when I go see my doctor next week.

We're all adults here, yes? That's what I thought. Then why are so many people acting like children tonight? It's really starting to bug me and make me want to run away to my bookshelf again.

ETA: Let me just add that I have no feelings either way on tonight's wank topic of choice in my fandom. I'm just sitting over here trying to write a kink meme fill in peace.

As much as I keep complaining how lj has become so dead, I can't help but point to the fact that I rarely post to guilt myself when I complain. So yeah, hi. I'm still here and still reading and missing you all.Collapse )

The trailer for Behind the Candelabra has finally been released. For those who don't know of it, this is an HBO made movie on Libarace staring Michael Douglas and Matt Damon. Where Matt plays the younger lover. The only real news we'd gotten before now is that there are sex scenes filmed for it. That intrigued me but this trailer? Now I really want to see it. I know at least one of you is also interested . . . anyone else going to join me on this road to possible film hell? :D

So, as I said previously, I'm going to attempt to make DW my default now. This being said, who is active there vs lj? Who haven't I found yet? Are any communities worth finding/following? Guide me, DW peeps, please? I am but a lost little sheep.

Guess this means I should make my DW reflective of me, eh?
