Meme’s Piano Bar – 7

Baby Face
You’ve got the cutest little
Baby Face

There’s not another one
Could take your place
Baby Face

My poor heart is jumping
You sure have started something
Baby Face

I’m up in heaven
When I’m in
Your fond embrace

I didn’t need a shove
‘Cause I just fell in love
With your pretty little
Baby Face

“Style is knowing who you are, what you want to say, and not giving a damn” Orson Welles

Style is the perfection of a point of view.—Richard Eberhart

The Daily Spur Word Prompt – Style

Meme’s Piano Bar – 4

It had to be you It had to be you
I wandered around and finally found
The somebody who
Could make me be true could make me be blue
And even be glad
Just to be sad – thinking of you

Some others I’ve seen
Might never be mean
Might never be cross or try to be boss
But they wouldn’t do

For nobody else gave me a thrill
With all your faults I love you still
It had to be you
Wonderful you
It had to be you

The Daily Spur Prompt: Genetic

Bench With a View

benchwithaview

The day was hot
The sky was clear
Men sweat a lot

They were sellin’ beer

The catcher squat
The crowd did cheer
The pitcher thought

They were sellin’ beer

The ball not caught
The fans did jeer
The team was fraught

They were selling beer

The players fought
Umpires appear
Hot dogs they bought

They were sellin’ beer

The day was shot
No profit here
Team came to naught

They quit sellin’ beer

Holiday Thoughts ~ Grandma

grandma

We’re going to grandma’s for Christmas
We go there every year
Mom’s packed all the presents
Dad’s packed all the beer

Mom’s baked a pumpkin pie
Another of wild plum
In a suitcase out of sight
Dad’s stashed a bottle of rum

Mom’s excited to see her kin
Already a tear in her eye
Dad nods and shakes his head
In his pocket goes a bottle of rye

Mom’s sisters will all be there
And the rest of the kissing kin
Dad will take the men out to the barn
And share a bottle of gin

Dad loves the Christmas dinner
Says there’s only one thing wrong
When grandpa says the thankful prayer
He makes it too darn long

Over the Fence

fence

You’ll find a lot of folks
In the garden by the fence
Those who stay on their side
Will truly show good sense

Some will plant flowers
And hope that they will bloom
Others will keep the pathway clean
Sweeping with a broom

Each and everyone
All will want to meet
Have a chat beside the fence
Or perhaps a tete-a-tete

Folks’ll look through a knothole
To see what you’re a doin’
They want to know what you’re thinkin’
Or what it is you’re chewin’

All in all they’re congenial
And a friendly little group
But be aware everyone wants
To snoop and snoop and snoop

Fences between neighbors
You really shouldn’t mind
Wood, stone or chain link
No matter what the kind

Offer good conversation
And see who else appears
And always keep your cooler full
Of a few extra beers

If you have to rave and ramble
Or grumble and gripe
Just be always ready
To offer the peace pipe

Everyone enjoys nonsense
And philosophical wit
Any kind of quote will do
But on the fence don’t sit

Tell your favorite joke
No matter if heard before
Repeat it again and again
Nobody’s keeping score

Smell that aroma
From the other side of the gate
Barbecue’s a cooking
Come on don’t be late

Bring a dish to your neighbor
Make very special treats
Everyone wants to know
How the other side eats

Religion and politics
Never seem to mix
The minute you open your mouth
You know you’re in a fix

Beware what you say
‘Cause it won’t make much sense
To that ignoramus neighbor
On the other side of the fence

Just say a little prayer
When the hot dogs are done
May politicians and gods
Bless us everyone
