7.6 backport is pending #66793 |

Because of several missing dependencies I'm no longer targeting 7.6. The tools in 7.7 should work great for targeting 7.6, but 7.7 is also out so users should be able to upgrade to 7.7 without too much trouble. |

In order to make it easier to update the plugin helpers for KP support, I've converted them to use TS. There shouldn't be any functional difference except that the exports are no longer available as a default export and must be imported as named imports or as
import *
