First Touch is Joining the NPL
We are excited to share that First Touch Sports will begin competing in the Virginia Premier Soccer League (VPSL) NPL this fall. The NPL is a competitive travel league and represents a new opportunity for some of our players who are ready for an increased level of challenge.

Staying True to Our Mission
First Touch Sports remains fully committed to grassroots soccer. Our mission—Más que fútbol—is about using the game to develop intelligent players, strong character, and a love for soccer within our community.

For the vast majority of players and families, recreational soccer continues to be the best fit. It provides a fun, affordable, and meaningful experience where players can grow, compete, and enjoy the game with their friends. That will always be the foundation of our club.

Why Add Travel Teams?
As our club has grown, some teams have trained and played together over a longer period of time and are ready for a higher level of competition. By moving a small number of teams (3–4) into the NPL:

• Those players receive the challenge they are seeking
• Our recreational league remains balanced and enjoyable for all
• We create a clear development pathway within First Touch

Who Should Consider Travel Soccer?
Our philosophy is simple: players should spend as much time as possible playing soccer in their local community with their friends.

However, some players begin to want more. They:

• Seek a higher level of competition
• Want to train more frequently
• Enjoy being challenged physically and mentally
• Are committed to consistent effort and improvement

For these players—and families ready for the added commitment—travel soccer can be a great next step.

What Is the Commitment?
Travel soccer requires a higher level of commitment from both players and families:

• Practices: 2–3 times per week
• Games: Weekends (4 home, 4 away; travel may include locations such as Virginia Beach)
• Attendance: Players are expected to attend all practices and games

First Touch is committing to the league to field full teams each week, so reliability and commitment are essential.

Proof of Age Requirement
The NPL requires all players to provide proof of age (Birth Certificate or Passport) before being offered a roster spot.

Cost

• Fall Season Fee: $300
• Includes league fees, referees, US Club Soccer registration, and program costs
• $150 deposit required to secure a roster spot (non-refundable)
• Remaining balance due before the start of the season

Tryouts
All interested players in the following age groups are invited to try out:
U10–U17

We are starting with a clean slate—all players must earn their place. Selections will be based on:

• Playing ability and potential
• Attitude and coachability
• Commitment level (player and family)

Depending on interest, we anticipate forming 3–4 teams this fall.

Final Thought
This is an exciting step forward for First Touch Sports, but it does not change who we are. Whether a player chooses recreational soccer or travel soccer, our focus remains the same:

Developing smarter players on and off the pitch.
