While Windows may take quite a while to turn off or reboot, Fast Shutdown turns this simple tasks into quick actions that will be performed almost instantaneously. This is in fact the only difference between Fast Shutdown and using Windows' default methods of shutting down or restarting your PC.

Fast Shutdown is extremely simple. Its interface only contains buttons that let you execute the supported actions (shutdown, restart, log off, hibernate). The only available additional setting is if you want to enable being asked for confirmation before one of the aforementioned actions is actually performed. You should also note that instantly turning off or restarting your computer using Fast Shutdown can cause data loss to unsaved work. Command line arguments can also be used to automate Fast Shutdown or to integrate it with other tools.
