It’s the 80s, Baby!

This week’s theme is whatever music moves you!

Awww Mondays hosted by Sandee at Comedy-Plus

Welcome to Monday’s Music Moves Me! I keep busy going through blog posts making repairs. To help speed myself along at a fun clip, I listen to a lot of music. I believe I stumbled on today’s playlist when I went to YT to fix a broken video link when I found a playlist of one hit wonders from the 80s. Click play, imagine yourself a younger you doing an aerobics workout or dancing to the beat at a party.

Everyone has time restraints. Please if you can, when you add your link to make an honest effort to visit, comment, or click ‘like” to let your bloggy friend know you stopped by. For some a small gesture means a lot.

At the moment, I do not have a “like” button. Feel free to drop an emoji in comments, no words needed so I’ll know to do a return visit.

Are you ready? It’s now your turn to share what music moves you!

This is a music link up.  Music themes are only a suggestion. Your post must contain at least one song or your URL is marked “No Music”.
This is a rework of an old sketch. Here’s the original illustration from 2024. I’m pleased with the improvements with my new attempt. 🙂

Have a boogietastic week!

A musical journey to serenity and peace this Sunday

Songs to lift the body, soul, and mind!

April Showers BOTB Showdown

I’m pretty confident that everyone reading this has heard of the song I’m using in this month’s showdown. I knew it was an oldie but didn’t know how old until I did a little digging. April Showers by Al Jolson was written for the Broadway musical “Bombo” in 1921 and covered by these legendary artists Cab Calloway, Bing Crosby, and Judy Garland.

I was not familiar with the first contender until now. Teddy Fender has been around for a long time getting his start in New York City 1969 with the band White Cloud. If you’re curious to learn more about the fella, his bio is on his website. Heads up, there’s a bit of instrumentals at the beginning but there are vocals starting 1:26 seconds into clip, but do listen to it from the beginning.

Teddy Fender & Jazzmatik

The next artist is another new discovery. Her YT channel description says, she’s an American jazz banjoist, singer and a founding member of Woody Allen’s New Orleans Jazz Band. After a quick search I found her squarespace page and learned a bit about her. She has an impressive music background. In 2023 she won the Steve Martin Banjo Prize and became an inductee to the American Banjo Hall of Fame.

Contender #2 Cynthia Sayer

I’m pretty sure if Daddy were alive, he’d like Cynthia’s version as he was a self-taught banjo player.

Two distinct styles and talented contenders but as we know these battles are driven by personal preference and there really is no wrong way to vote…that is if you’re honest about your opinion.

Polls close at noon (ET) on the 7th!

For years, I’ve wanted to use April Showers in a battle but it never really moved me to do so until now and frankly, I enjoyed sampling artists’ covers. I hope you had fun listening. Now, it’s up to you to tell me in comments who you like and why (optional), then next week on the 8th I’ll drop the results in my comments.

Before I go, just a reminder for more battles underway, I have a dedicated BOTB page for all participants at the top on the main menu. This is CAAC signing off, have a bandtastic day!

4M Storm Warning

This week’s theme is stormy weather songs. What tunes come to mind? We’d love to hear it!

Welcome to Monday’s Music Moves Me! Before I forget while doing blog repairs, one post that supposedly published showed up as draft. After I fixed it, it then published. You probably got email notification which reflects the original posting date from 2020. I just wanted you to know because I have posts older than 14 days comments turned off.

Okay moving along, March is ending bringing to mind all the ups and downs of the weather. It’s spring now, but occasionally Mother Nature’s icy breath is felt. These changes produces clashes in the atmosphere producing stormy weather.

Poking around on the Internet I found a song I can’t say I’ve heard before. Maybe I have and forgot. I’m not familiar with Bonnie Raitt’s music. It was her song, Storm Warning, that captured my ear and I am sharing it with you this morning.

Rounding out the month, let’s give a round of applauds and well wishes to this month’s birthday boy, John from The Sound of One Hand Typing who blew out one extra candle on the 25th! 👏🎉🎈🎂

Friday after DH got off work, we went to Home Depot. Our trip out revealed more new life to our beautiful world. The warm temperatures forced the dogwood and redbud trees to bloom early. That’s life in east Tennessee sometimes, but I do love spring time! Have a boogietastic week, folks.

Sunday Songs Battle Scars

Songs to lift the body, soul, and mind!

Background credit for today’s scripture creation belongs to Eagle Flying Stock photos by Vecteezy

Last month, I mentioned that our neighbors house burned. We found out yesterday, the elderly woman passed away a few weeks ago. Pat had declining health for years and with fire-related issues, she just never recovered. Her son is heart broken. He knows his mom is in heaven. That’s where she wanted to be and that gives him comfort. He’s dealing with much, which God knows the details. I would appreciate it, if you’d say a prayer for him.

4M Choo Choo Ch’ Boogie

This week’s theme is whatever music moves you!

Today’s featured song was recorded nearly 8 decades ago by Louis Jordan & His Tympany Five. I heard it for the first time three years ago performed by a modern band but I enjoyed and meant to share it. As much as I liked that version, I’m bringing to you a different cover!

Here’s Choo Choo Ch’Boogie by Asleep at the Wheel!

If you enjoyed this, click on The Very Best of Asleep at the Wheel to listen to the 1974 self-titled.

Interesting tidbit, last year I shared a different band covering this song. Check out Swingabella!

Over the past 16 years I’ve published nearly 3500 posts. Present content back to the beginning of 2021 is almost fixed. What would you do my shoes? My goal is to get everything fixed back to 2017 and from that point on go at it easier. It’s not often people riffle through your blog archives, so I’m not sure why I feel the need to repair old posts. Sigh. Oh well…all is good. I will know what to do when I reach my goal. Thanks for being apart of the dance party. Have a boogietastic week! xo

4M Friendly Strangers

This week’s theme is Isles of March or St Patrick’s Day. Which inspires you more? Let your imagination command the dance floor how ever your music creativity moves you!

Welcome to Monday’s Music Moves Me! I threw out two music prompts to inspire ya. I hope it helped. I’m going to be the odd one and if you’re on the same page as me, then we’ll just stick out like two sore thumbs together.

In today’s line up, I’m sharing with you the 1970 album, Friendly Strangers by The Ides of March.

At first, I thought this was a new discovery until I got to track three. I recognized it immediately, but I’m not sure if it’s this version or another I remember.

Now what about the calendar event known as “Ides of March”, what’s that all about? I looked this up before but forgot. It’s basically marks the mid-point of the month and is historically marked by the turning point for the Roman empire with the assassination of Julius Caesar. What contrasting figures we recognize this month, Caesar, a dictator – self serving, and St Patrick, a man of God – serving others.

I borrowed the Irish blessing to create this St Patrick’s Day greetings for you for my Awww Mondays contribution hosted by Sandee at Comedy Plus

This is a rework of my 2020 Irish Lass vintage pinup girl I drew for the A2Z Challenge. I really like the changes and improvements.

Procreate sketch

I apologize for the added fluff, but I couldn’t resist trying it in Brushstrokes.

To see each of these photos, just right click to open image in a new tab.

Before I go I wanted to share with you something DH shared with me last year, an image of a giant Celtic cross in the Donegal Forest in Ireland.  You can read more about this interesting landscape at IrishCentral.

I’ll wind things down with another playlist by Ides of March. Enjoy and have a boogietastic week!

On the way home…

I don’t know where the time goes, but anyway while plugging images back onto my site I found a picture taken about a year ago that I meant to share. This seems like a good time. On the way home one day last March, DH noticed a car merging onto the interstate. It looked really weird, see…

As we got closer this is what we saw…

This is the one of the craziest looking cars I’ve seen. I don’t know what possesses people to sink a lot of money into a vehicle to make it look ridiculous. I guess some people have more money than sense.

It’s time to get back to mending posts. I’ll see you around. Have a good day! xo
