The Esko Artwork documentation team produces dozens of documentation deliverables every year, in five or more languages. In addition, we need to share this content with the training and support departments. The need for a CCMS based on the DITA standard was acutely felt. After a thorough vendor selection process we decided to go with Componize because of their deep understanding of DITA and the needs of our documentation team, and the tight integration with Alfresco.
After only a few months of use, we are already seeing benefits: finding topics is a no-brainer thanks to the metadata library, publishing to PDF or web output has been reduced to just a few clicks, and we no longer need to worry about broken links and references. The Open Standards xml framework for Component Content Management (CCM) and DITA, which Componize offers integrated with Alfresco, was exactly what we were looking for! Our requirements were completely fulfilled by the key benefits of Componize for Alfresco. Recently we finished our project that we did together with the professional and knowledgeable Componize team led by Frank Shipley. The first Module that went live fulfills our need for:
- reusing and managing an enormous load of components (more than 100k) for different channels and renditions,
- providing direct view of in and outbound links to components
- ability to manage translations in relation to the source
- complete integration with Alfresco as we had already chosen Alfresco as our CMS
We are now in the middle of migrating data sheets, Marketing Category Value Propositions and Product Value Propositions to the CCM DITA Module. In the next couple of months I expect the first results in terms of reduced costs, simplified processes for the global teams and being able to handle translations via an automated efficient process.
