Componize CCMS User Training Program

Over the past fifteen years, Componize has developed a modular and adaptable training program for all users who need to quickly and efficiently upgrade their skills on our platform. You will find below the details of each training course according to the different user profiles.

We can deliver these trainings on site, but they have been designed specifically to be delivered remotely. In both cases, our training courses include a large part of hands-on exercises that allow our trainer to follow the progress of each attendee.

  • On site, the training fee is $2,800 per day (excluding travel expenses).
  • Remotely, the cost of the training is $900 per session (one session lasts about 3 hours).

This course provides an overview of Componize and how to review a document using a web authoring tool.

  • Comfortable with email client and web browser

Training Objectives

  • Understand the principles of single sourcing and component-based content
  • Understand the Componize web interface and its workflow system
  • Become comfortable with the authoring tool to add comments and do basic edits
  • Being aware of the different feedback options in order to choose the most convenient way to provide it

This course allows content producers to get up to speed with Componize authoring and basic document management. It doesn’t cover the DITA standard outside of the elements available in the authoring tool.

Prerequisites

  • Proficiency with a web browser
  • Experience in a production content is preferred.

Training Objectives

  • Become comfortable with the Componize web interface and its main features
  • Understand the principles of component-based content and single-sourcing
  • Understand how to find, create, modify and delete files in Componize, as well as create workflows for their review
  • Understand how to publish a document to pre-defined output formats
  • Use Oxygen Web Author to edit and assemble content
  • Use Oxygen Web Author to insert images, create links, assign metadata and reuse content

This course is the fast trach to authoring SITA content with Componize. It doesn’t cover the DITA standard and focuses on document management features.

It can be followed by the Versioning and Release Management module.

  • Solid DITA knowledge and/or experience
  • Basic experience of a DITA authoring tool

Training Objectives

  • Become comfortable with the Componize web interface and its main features
  • Understand how to find, create, modify and delete files in Componize, as well as create workflows for their review
  • Understand how to publish a document to pre-defined output formats, including with profiling conditions
  • Use the authoring tool to edit content and add images
  • Use the authoring tool to create links, assign metadata and reuse content

The Functional administrator does not create content but will be in charge of managing its production, configuring the Componize instance and maintaining the user base.

The course covers Alfresco features such as content rules and permissions but is not an Alfresco administration training.

For Componize installation and customization, this course should be followed with the Customization Training.

This course can be followed by the optional Translation Management module.

Prerequisits

  • Knowledge of XML
  • Basic knowledge of DITA is preferred (or following one of the authors training courses)
  • Knowledge of Alfresco is not required
  • Local XML editor (oXygen Desktop or any XML-aware editor)

Training Objectives

  • Become comfortable with the Componize web interface and its main features
  • Understand the principles of component-based content and single-sourcing
  • Understand how to find, create, modify and delete files in Componize
  • Understand how to set up a collaboration space, how to configure the content templates and the publication options
  • Understand how to manage the list of sites, the metadata and the global content and email templates
  • Understand how to create users, assign them into groups and manage folder permissions.

This intensive course covers everything the Componize “super users” need to configure the solution and train in turn the authors and contributors.

It includes the optional Versioning and Translation Management modules, but does not include the Componize installation and Customization modules.

Componize CCMS Customization Training

The Componize customization training provides you with the necessary knowledge to perform all of the common customization tasks such as integrating custom style sheets, writing your own processing pipelines, adding a custom Document Type etc. It will also give you a detailed understanding of the Componize architecture and the open-standards that it is based on. You will also learn how to do more advanced customization tasks such as configuring metadata extractors, interceptors and synchronizers, adding support for specific link types and link properties and using the Componize extensions and APIs.

The Componize customization training provides you with the necessary knowledge to perform all of the common customization tasks such as integrating custom style sheets, writing your own processing pipelines, adding a custom Document Type etc.

It will also give you a detailed understanding of the Componize architecture and the open-standards that it is based on.

You will also learn how to do more advanced customization tasks such as configuring metadata extractors, interceptors and synchronizers, adding support for specific link types and link properties and using the Componize extensions and APIs.

Target audience

System integrators and advanced users who would like to have a detailed understanding of the Componize architecture and learn how to customize Componize for their own requirements.

Prerequisites

Attendees should have a basic understanding of XML and have already used the Alfresco Share interface. Experience with the Spring framework and Alfresco content modeling and customization would be a plus.

Attendees will be required to use their own laptops running either Windows or Linux and with a minimum configuration of 2Gb of RAM and 500Mb of free disk space. All software will be provided and installed during the training course.
