U19 Team
Our nationally ranked and award-winning U19 Competitive program is an ideal fit for athletes who are ready to advance from U17. Our rowers are dedicated to improving skills, increasing speed, and competing at a high level. Rowers will challenge themselves physically and mentally within a strong team environment.
The U19 boys’ and girls’ teams practice year-round, with short breaks between seasons. Athletes compete in local and national regattas, including the Head Of The Charles and USRowing Youth Nationals.
Please reach the Boys’ U19 Head Coach Kevin McCarthy or Girls’ U19 Head Coach Skye Elliot with any questions.
Prerequisite: At least one season on the U17 Competitive Team, or equal level of experience.
Gender Policy: Per CRI’s policies, athletes participate in rowing practices with the team (Boys’ or Girls’) that best matches their expressed gender identity. This is regardless of the gender listed on the athlete’s birth certificate or student records, and regardless of whether the athlete has undergone any medical treatment. However, per USRowing policies, Girls’ competitive events (races or regattas), are limited to athletes who were assigned a sex at birth of female. If you have questions, please reach Ted Benford, Executive Director.
Parent Handbook: Additional information about our youth competitive programs can be found here.
CRI offers the Row Boston Scholars (RBS) program to financially support high school students from Boston and Cambridge public schools to participate in whichever program best meets their experience and commitment level.
To apply to be a Row Boston Scholar, please register for the youth rowing class that’s most appropriate for you and fill out the financial aid application at the end of registration. RBS applicants are not charged for the class while applying for aid. RBS applications must be renewed each year as part of the overall registration process.
