Accreditation
Standards provide benchmarks for quality programming. The CEA is committed to ensuring the accreditation process is a positive and supportive experience. The full process takes 6–12 months and includes the following steps:
- The agency submits notice to the CEA Standards Commission Chairperson expressing interest in pursuing CEA accreditation.
- The CEA provides training for staff participating in the audit upon request.
- The CEA Commission Chairperson collaborates with the agency to arrange the audit.
- The CEA auditor conducts an on-site visit and evaluates the agency’s compliance with the standards. This includes written documentation (policies and procedures) and evidence of implementation.
- The auditor submits a written report to the Standards Commission.
- The Standards Commission reviews the report and issues a decision regarding a three-year accreditation.
- The agency is notified of the accreditation outcome.
- Facilities achieving accreditation are recognized at the CEA Forum or during the annual International Conference and Training Event.
