About Us

Since 1930, the Correctional Education Association (CEA) has provided leadership, direction, and essential services to educators working in correctional settings. CEA remains the only professional advocacy organization dedicated exclusively to supporting both juvenile justice and adult educators across correctional institutions, including prisons, jails, detention centers, and affiliated educational programs.

Our Goals

  • To be the leading organization for educators within corrections
  • To increase public awareness of education in corrections
  • To be a leader of professional development for educators in adult and juvenile settings
  • To maintain and improve organizational structure
  • To develop relevant awards and scholarships

Our Mission

To ignite transformative change through fostering a community where innovation flourishes.

Our Vision

To create a future where education unlocks potential, reentry restores dignity, and every returning citizen has a chance to thrive.

Our Purpose

To unite advocates in advancing education, release preparation, and reentry support for justice-involved individuals. The Association exists to share knowledge, strengthen professional practice, and promote policies and programs that empower individuals to rebuild their lives, reduce recidivism, and foster safer, stronger communities.
