UN Spotlights Radical Mahmoud Khalil As Keynote Speaker at UN Education Conference

The United Nations wants every girl in the world to know that the true purpose of education is to prepare for revolution. And we give the UN $18 billion for this nonsense.

  • US Contribution:
The US is the largest single contributor to the UN, providing $18.1 billion in 2022, according to The Heritage Foundation. This includes both assessed and voluntary contributions. The UN’s total funding exceeds $74 billion, with the US being the largest contributor.

As it marks its 80th year, the United Nations is facing a major budget shortfall. The situation could worsen as the United States – the UN’s largest funder and debtor – reassesses its ties to the organization.Jul 31, 2025

I know Trump has his hands full right now,  but before his time runs out, could we please have him address the whole UN nonsense? He is the man for the job.

UN-Backed Feminist Education Program Features Syrian Mahmoud Khalil Praising Terrorist Icon and Urging Student “Revolution”

A refresher on this Muslim fellow first: After more than three months in ICE detention, Columbia University student and pro-Palestinian activist Mahmoud Khalil returned home to the New York area after a federal judge ordered his release. NBC News’ Maya Eaglin has more.

Earlier this week, I attended Transform Education’s From Classrooms to Revolution, featuring Columbia University’s Mahmoud Khalil.

What’s troubling is that Transform Education is part of UNGEI, the United Nations Girls’ Education Initiative. Instead of focusing on education, the event promoted student “revolution” as a moral duty and necessity.

Khalil praised PFLP terrorist Ghassan Kanafani as an inspiration, framed education as “resistance,” and lauded Columbia’s militant campus activism and mutual aid networks that supported students during arrests. He described carving protest chants into his prison bunk, hailed students as the “moral compass” of radical change, and even preached about “positive masculinity.”

Quotes by Kanafani:

“Imperialism has layed its body over the world, the head in Eastern Asia, the heart in the Middle East, its arteries reaching Africa and Latin America. Wherever you strike it, you damage it, and you serve the World Revolution.”

Given the militancy of Columbia’s protests, it’s alarming that a women’s education program would choose Khalil as its keynote speaker.

Now I remember a time when education was presented as transformative, but the transformation was supposed to be internal to the student. Before one went out into the world to transform it, young people needed to expand their own minds, learn how to think and analyze, understand the complexities of history, and learn how to think in general.

Khalil was famously the spokesman for the Columbia student “occupiers” who vandalized the campus and harassed Jews. His icons are Marxists, and his goal is to decolonize the West.

How very UN of him.

On top of it all, the very idea that the United Nations is promoting revolution is bizarre. It is, after all, an organization of sovereign nations. It happily includes some of the worst regimes in the world and even gives them spots on its human rights commissions, so it would be interesting to have the Secretary General specify exactly which countries the UN is trying to foment revolutions in.

12 State AG Secretaries Warn Large Banks About UN Net Zero Participation

A sleeper story that deserves attention. Much of Europe is being rocked by demonstrations of farmers protesting. Yesterday the French farmers began an assault on Paris, threatening to block all road leading into Paris. Belgium too joined the protests.

The undisclosed intent of governments is to ultimately control our food supply and put the farmer out of business. The farmer is paying the price.

The European Union is pushing hard. Last year Bunk posted:

European Union Fires the shot to start WWIII in the Netherlands

The Netherlands are about to lose many of their farms by confiscation. At least an attempt at that is in the process. How did the Netherlands get here? “Essentially, the EU has now achieved what Kaiser Wilhelm and Adolf Hitler failed to achieve between 1914 – 1945”.

The Netherland is the number two exporter of food, second only to the U.S. While we keep hearing about Ukraine as the breadbasket, it is the Dutch who lead.

Here in the U.S. a more sinister approach is in the making to control our food supply. Not limited to controlling farms. The fossil fuel industry; iron, steel and cement manufacturing; and real estate. This under the guise of the U.N. It will be the banks who will be the Headless Horseman.

Back in 2011 I posted this and I doubt it has gotten any less in 2024:

10 Banks Own 77 Percent Of All U.S. Banking Assets

A sage opinion then:

They are predators.

In fact, a very revealing article in Rolling Stone described Goldman Sachs this way….

The first thing you need to know about Goldman Sachs is that it’s everywhere. The world’s most powerful investment bank is a great vampire squid wrapped around the face of humanity, relentlessly jamming its blood funnel into anything that smells like money.

Unfortunately, they may have actually been understating things a bit.

These megabanks have rigged the game so that the wealth of the nation is slowly transferred from us to themselves and to the international financial interests that control them.

They can make money if the markets are going up, and they can make money if the markets are going down.

We pick up the story at Zero Hedge

“It Must Be Stopped”: 12 Agriculture Officials Warn Largest U.S. Banks About Net Zero Agenda

A dozen Republican state agriculture commissioners have penned a letter to six U.S. megabanks, informing them that their push for ESG investing could wind up leading to price increases and may impact food availability.

The letter was sent to executives at Bank of America, Citigroup, Goldman Sachs, JPMorgan Chase, Morgan Stanley and Wells Fargo and took exception with the group’s membership in the UN organized Net-Zero Banking Alliance (NZBA), according to Fox News.

According to the United Nations, which organized the formation of the NZBA, the alliance is a global group of financial institutions “committed to financing ambitious climate action” to transition the economy to net-zero greenhouse gas emissions by 2050. The NZBA’s framework encourages its member banks to additionally “design, set, and achieve” science-based net zero targets for 2030 or sooner.

The alliance issued a progress report during last month’s U.N. climate summit in Dubai, highlighting how two-thirds of its growing membership pool had made aggressive green energy commitments. The report further noted that member banks are increasingly targeting the power sector; fossil fuel industry; iron, steel and cement manufacturing; and real estate.

The NZBA is “committed to financing ambitious climate action” and is attempting to force the economy to net zero greenhouse emissions by 2050. The letter notes that this could result in “severe consequences” for farmers.

They said the goal of net zero emissions could “permanently damage American agriculture and endanger our country’s food security” and said that “American farmers should not be forced to put our food supply at risk.”

Georgia Agriculture Commissioner Tyler Harper commented to Fox: “American agriculture is sending a clear signal: we will not bend the knee to the failed, left-wing climate agenda of the United Nations that seeks to cripple one of our country’s most critical industries.”

“Now more than ever, banks that do business with America should be unquestionably supporting American industries — and that starts with the one that puts food on our tables, clothes on our backs, and shelter over our heads.”

Harper continued: “The UN’s Net-Zero Banking Alliance would be the equivalent of a run on the bank for our nation’s agriculture industry and pose a serious threat to our national security — and it must be stopped.”

UN-Backed Report Suggests Normalizing Pedophilia

Add to it “de-criminalize all sexual behavior.” Here in the U.S? Our State Department is fine with Child brides.

So now we have judges ruling Female Genital Mutilation ban unconstitutional and our government approving child abuse. So much for our Judeo-Christian values. No doubt to accommodate our new Muslim neighbors.

DW:

A United Nations-backed report published last month suggests global leaders normalize pedophilia by allowing children to legally decide on engaging in sexual activities with adults.

Wrapped inside a human-rights-based analysis on the impact of criminal laws proscribing sexual and reproductive health rights, consensual sexual activity, and gender ideology the International Committee of Jurists (ICJ), UNAIDS and the Office of the High Commissioner for Human Rights (OHCHR) published the report — which calls for offenses related to “sex, drug use, HIV, sexual and reproductive health, homelessness and poverty” to be decriminalized.

“Sexual conduct involving persons below the domestically prescribed minimum age of consent to sex may be consensual in fact, if not in law,” the Geneva-based ICJ wrote.

State Department Approves Child Brides – Legal Under U.S. Law

I will go out on a limb and opine that the approval of bringing in child brides into our country by our State Department is probably the result of the Muslim infiltration into our government. How else to explain the actions?

So now we have judges ruling FGM ban  unconstitutional and our government approving child abuse. So much for our Judeo-Christian values.

Federal Ban on Female Genital Mutilation Ruled Unconstitutional

Nov 21, 2018 – A federal judge in Michigan has dropped most of the charges against a Detroit doctor accused of female genital mutilation, concluding that Congress “overstepped its bounds” when it passed a law banning the practice. That 1996 law violates the Constitution and is unenforceable.

As a result, he dropped six federal charges against Jumana Nagarwala, who was accused of mutilating the genitals of multiple girls when they were about 7. Other defendants charged with assisting in the procedures have also had charges dropped.

The State Department has approved thousands of requests made by older men to bring child or adolescent brides to the country in the past decade, according to an Associated Press report published Friday and based on government data.

In nearly all the cases, the girls were the younger person in the relationship. In 149 instances, the adult was older than 40, and in 28 cases the adult was over 50, the committee found. In 2011, immigration officials approved a 14-year-old’s petition for a 48-year-old spouse in Jamaica. A petition from a 71-year-old man was approved in 2013 for his 17-year-old wife in Guatemala.

The Young and the Betrothed – Foreign Policy

The State Department approved 5,556 requests made from adults who were looking to bring minor spouses or fiancées to the United States and 2,926 requests made by minors that were seeking to have older spouses brought in. The agency also reportedly approved 204 requests made by minors seeking to bring in spouses who were also minors.

U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) is the first step for consideration of petitions for spouses or fiancées.

Data gathered by the news agency revealed that in the majority of cases, girls were the youngest in the relationship. In nearly 150 cases, the man seeking to bring minor spouses or fiancées to the U.S. was over the age of 40.

The age minimum for getting married in Michigan may shock you. Technically it is age zero. There is no minimum under the law.

A WWI Repeat

by Mustang

There Are Only Eight

That’s right.  Only eight human beings living today were alive during the First World War (1914-1918).  How much of it they remember is another question, and I don’t know about that.  The oldest person alive is Kane Tanaka, born on 2 January 1903.

She is Japanese … and in her youth, quite attractive.  So, she could possibly remember when Japan was an ally of the United States during World War I and an enemy of the United States during World War II.  And she might agree with Daniel Greenfield, who thinks that the current crisis in Ukraine is less like World War II or even World War III … and more like World War I.

Mr. Greenfield observes, “Centuries of invasions, wars, and subsequent population transfers have left the region pockmarked with national and ethnic groups with a fierce sense of their own destiny and culture that don’t fit into any kind of workable national borders.”

He told us recently in FrontPage Mag, The Russian invasion of Ukraine is yet another in a series of regional conflicts between two competing groups of nationalists over borders and territory. As the victim of an invasion by a larger power, Ukraine naturally has the sympathy of many Americans. But, contrary to the facile analogies of political propaganda, this isn’t World War II, let alone World War III.  It’s World War I.”

Greenfield thinks this because Biden (ostensibly, the leader of the free world) (God help us) is playing the role of the League of Nations (which everyone remembers gave us World War II).  He’s standing on the sidelines lecturing everyone about such things as international norms and protocols while imposing sanctions that can only accomplish one thing: make our world less safe.

League of Nations and Military Might and Loyality Patriotic USA God Bless America Unsent Old Glory draped Carbine RifleLeague of Nations and Military Might and Loyality Patriotic USA God Bless America Unsent Old Glory draped Carbine Rifle” by UpNorth Memories – Don Harrison

Here’s another bulletin.  If you think the League of Nations didn’t work worth a damn, what must you think about the United Nations?  How many wars has the UN avoided?  Maybe a better question would be, how many people have died because the UN isn’t worth the powder it would take to blow it off the face of the earth?  The UN wants the world’s countries to give up their national identities — to diffuse conflict between nations.  Right.  Well, here’s yet another bulletin: Russia is NOT going to give up her national identity … and neither should we.

File:The United Nations Secretariat Building.jpgFile:The United Nations Secretariat Building.jpg” by Steve Cadman

But here’s the question that needs answering: since the UN and EU and NATO are organizations with no natural teeth, who seem to exist at OUR expense for no other reason than to stick their noses in everyone else’s business — what business is it of ours (America’s) to save the world from itself?  Does any American (not of Ukrainian heritage) have any stake in whether (or not) Russia invades Ukraine, Crimea, Georgia, or Moldova?

I looked this up on the internet: The United States of America is NOT the world’s police force.  I sure as heck do not speak for anyone other than myself … and there are around 328 million different opinions about this … I don’t want to write any checks to the UN or to NATO to pay for their crappy services or pay the pensions of the heirs of European nobility who now serve as the kingpins of the globalist organizations.  I do NOT want a single American serviceman or woman being sent to fight Russians, Chinese, Koreans, or Bedouin A-rabs.

Greenfield observed, appropriately, “Being the policeman of a ghetto world means having to police the endless domestic disputes of overlapping nationalisms at the service of Western nations who are still foolishly pretending that nationalism will go away once everyone learns to sing, ‘Imagine.’”

Here’s my idea:  Since Russia is in Europe, let the Europeans deal with Russia as best they can.  Not our problem.  If you agree with me, let’s also agree to stop voting for idiots to serve as our president who thinks that what happens in Russia, Ukraine, Crimea, or Georgia is our business.  It isn’t.  And if the Ukrainians honestly believed that we Americans were coming to their rescue, then guess what?  The Ukrainians are DAFT … and so is anyone who voted for Biden.

I’m betting Kane Tanaka didn’t vote for Biden (although she may have), but I can imagine that she’s utterly depressed.  In the 119 years (and 59 days) of her life, nothing has changed in the world, except for everyone’s stupidity … and it’s only getting worse.

The UN Russia Condemnation Vote – the Stunning ‘Abstention’ and ‘Not Voting’ Countries

We get a rare look at the countries of the world and their political alliances and moral conscience with the vote taken at the U.N condemning Russia invading Ukraine. The 141 votes in favor of the condemnation were portrayed by the media as an overwhelming display of the world united. Looking closer, there were disconcerting and unsettling insights. 52 countries could have cared less.

While the report of the “No votes” were expected, the 35 who chose to abstain and the 12 not voting is worthy of attention.

The 5 countries who voted against condemning Russia’s invasion of Ukraine included Russia, Belarus, Eritrea – According to Human Rights Watch, the Eritrean government’s human rights record is among the worst in the world.[27] North Korea, and Syria. China was one of the 35 countries that abstained.  China and Russia are now new BFF apparently and China has its own self interest in expansion.

141 Yes, 5 No, 35 Abstentions, 12 Not Voting

Afghanistan voted yes to condemn. Think about it.

Iran and Iraq abstained.

India abstained. One would have expected a whole lot better. Buzz sawing a country’s citizens with bombs should have caused outrage by this country. Hopes were that they would favor western values though indications are that they are cozying up to China.

Serbia voted to condemn. Notable.

Mexico voted to condemn. One bright spot.

Brazil far more telling. Abstained.

Armenia abstained.

Bolivia abstained.

Venezuela not voting. Maybe trying to figure which way the wind is blowing.

But here is the real kicker. Paging Kamala Harris for an answer as they are her new friends.

Guatemala voted to condemn. Excellent.

Honduras voted to condemn. Good for them.

Nicaragua and El Salvador voted to abstain. Really? Just mulling over that one. These are the ones sending us their “tired and poor, their huddled masses to be free.” Meanwhile Kamala is sending them a boat load of our cash.

Buffon Biden Heads Over To Europe – Here Are A Few’Golden Moments’ From The Past!

Our buffoon in Chief, one Joe Biden, and his lackeys are headed out to Europe to sell America down the proverbial tubes.

Biden leaves for Italy today. He is slated to meet with Pope Francis at the Vatican on Friday before kicking off meetings with leaders of the world’s largest economies in Rome. After the G20 meetings, Biden travels to Glasgow, Scotland, to attend the U.N. climate change conference COP26.

One special tag-along, John Kerry no doubt will be a big hit. Included are a few special hits from posts “way back.”

Kerry: No more farms for African starving kids because it causes Global Warming

So if Kerry is not troubled by dispensing with Africans, no doubt he would not be troubled by a diminished population of Americans. Just saying.

Sec Kerry: Creating more farms in Africa causes too much carbon so let’s discourage more farms

That is why they call it climate change now because they have no idea if the planet will rise or lower in temperature.

Now for some real fun. A wonderful take down of the wacko at CNN.  Then a reminder of the Ice Age of the ’70s/ Enjoy!

A few bonuses just for old times sake.

Kerry: ‘Bible commands we protect Islamic countries from Global Warming’

September 4, 2014 — bunkerville

Wednesday at a ceremony to appoint Texas lawyer Shaarik Zafar to be special representative to Muslim communities, Secretary of State John Kerry said it was the United States’ Biblical “responsibility” to “confront climate change,” including to protect “vulnerable Muslim majority counties.”

Kerry said Scripture, in particular the Book of Genesis, make clear it is our “duty” to protect the planet and we should look at Muslim countries “with a sense of stewardship of earth,” adding, “That responsibility comes from God.”

And this man is still out there peddling his nonsense.

Let’s not forget our stalwart writer Mustang’s post here-

Fat people contribute to Global Warming

Obese people contribute to global warming as they emit more carbon dioxide than those of a normal weight, according to research.” This from the Daily Mail

“The study, published in the journal ‘Obesity,’ also points out that by consuming more, they increase their impact on the planet.”

“Obesity is estimated to be responsible for 700 megatons of carbon dioxide, or about 1.6 per cent of all man-made emissions.”
  • Obesity Society calculated environmental impact of increased food intake
  • Overweight people are responsible for 20 per cent more greenhouse gas emissions compared with a lean person
  • Transporting obese people also causes an excess of carbon dioxide emissions

One can wonder if perhaps the summit can agree to put us on a treadmill? Maybe a carbon tax for all us “fat Americans?”

Thats all folks. The best of the swamp.

99% of all species that ever lived on earth have died out – before man’s intrusion

“We must act now, consuming less, polluting less, having fewer children” says CNN. Really? Better yet the United Nations weighs in… Save Nature to save ourselves, UN report pleads

More than 99 percent of all species, amounting to over five billion species, that ever lived on Earth are estimated to have died out. Estimates on the number of Earth’s current species range from 10 million to 14 million, of which about 1.2 million have been documented and over 86 percent have not yet been described.
Extinction – Wikipedia

Each and every one of our forbears became extinct without man’s intrusion effecting the climate.

CNN is advising that unless Americans have “fewer children,” up to a million species could go extinct.

The network’s advice came while reporting on a United Nations report that predicted human activity will spark mass species extinctions within decades.

CNN spoke with controversial Stanford biologist, Paul Ehrlich, who infamously predicted in the 1960s that overpopulation would result in a mass starvation that would claim hundreds of millions of lives by the 1970s.

“For a species that named itself homo sapiens, the wise man, we’re being incredibly stupid,” Ehlrich told CNN. “The other organisms on the planet are our life support systems. You don’t have to worry about them if you don’t care about eating, if you don’t care about breathing, if you don’t care about having fresh water and so on. Then you can just forget about it and die.”

CNN’s Nick Watt echoed some on the far left, such as Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, who blame people having babies for environmental problems.

“As for our rapidly dwindling biodiversity, these experts claim it’s the 11th hour. We must act now, consuming less, polluting less, having fewer children,” Watt said. “One eighth of all animal and plant species on Earth now at risk of extinction because of us. And as this report states, nature is essential for human existence.”

The CNN segment closed with another warning — that President Trump is actively worsening these threats.

For a laugh or two, recall this?

Italy Grows a Pair – tells U.N. Migrant Compact to take a hike

Just In:  Italy Grows a Pair

by Mustang

(Rejects Global Fascism re: Immigration Policy)

The United Nations Global Compact for Migration met at a conference in Marrakech, Morocco to adopt the agreement that intends to establish global migration as a human right.  That’s not all: it also aimed to make any criticism of migration a criminal violation through a so-called hate crimes legislation.  In selling this bill of goods, the United Nations claims the following:

“Today, there are over 250 million migrants around the world living outside their country of birth.  This figure is expected to grow for a number of reasons, including population growth, increasing connectivity, trade, rising inequality, demographic imbalances, and climate change.  Migration provides immense opportunity and benefits—for the migrants, host communities, and communities of origin.  However, when poorly regulated it can create significant challenges.  These challenges include overwhelming social infrastructures with the unexpected arrival of large numbers of people and the deaths of migrants undertaking dangerous journeys.”

I think the UN is right about the challenges, but remains undeterred as it relates to the struggling receiving communities.  There are all sorts of counter-arguments to this foolishness, including the fact that if people are allowed to pick up and move away from their third or fourth-world cesspool country, then there will never be an impetus within that country to change direction that might benefit all of its citizens.  Suppose British colonists in North America, fed up with tyranny, simply moved away to Mexico —would there ever have been an American Revolution?  How would this have impacted our country today?  Since we’re talking about Mexico, this is precisely why we Americans have so many illegal immigrants from that cesspool.

In any case, Italy isn’t having any of this.  In direct opposition to the global fascists in the United Nations (why are they headquartered in New York, again?), the Italian legislation has just passed a law that pushes back against the compact.  Here’s what they’ve done:

1.Italy will only grant asylum to legitimate refugees of war, or victims of political persecution.  If individuals who have been granted asylum break the law, which is to say convicted of crimes involving threats of violence to public officials, physical assault, female genital mutilation, or theft, they will be deported

2.Italy has approved tough new immigration and security laws that will make it easier to deport criminal migrants, including the stripping them of Italian citizenship.  The vote in the lower house was 396 to 99.  The new law was promulgated on 3 December 2018.

3.Key provisions of the new law are the Elimination of Humanitarian Protection, which was a provision that sought to undermine the process of asylum; Extends periods of detention for Migrants to 180 days;

Increases funding for deportation of migrants; makes it easier to revoke the status of migrants when they become criminals or trouble-makers; restricts migrants to those identified as “safe countries of origin,” which means countries that have well-established democratic political systems;

decreases the use of shelters to only unaccompanied minors, and only until their situation can be resolved; authorizes revocation of citizenship for any terrorist activity or involvement; increases security measures to guarantee public safety.

Naturally the Italian press is going bonkers over the new law, and I imagine the UN weenies are wetting their pants, but given the events of France over the past week or ten days, Italy isn’t the only rebel to UN foolishness.

Presently, there are 12 European Union members who have similar restrictions to migration.  Bottom line?  It makes sense to the survival of national and community identity.  Italy isn’t being “mean.”

It is the main European gateway for migrants arriving by sea.  In 2017, there were 119,369 sea-borne migrants; the year before that, 181,436.  Apparently, Italy has decided that enough is enough.

Italy will not sign the compact, and no Italian officials will attend the conference in Marrakech.  In renouncing the UN Compact, Italy is joined by Australia, Austria, Bulgaria, Croatia, Czech Republic, Hungary, Israel, Latvia, Poland, Slovakia, Slovenia, Switzerland, and the United States.

To me, this is good news —but the United Nations is still traveling at the speed of light in the wrong direction.  Perhaps President Trump should simply suspend any further payments to the UN until it begins acting like an organization composed of mature adults, rather than liberal “the world isn’t fair” teenagers.

UN Ambassadors Nikki Haley versus Samantha Power – change all in one year

All of the change at the UN in just one year. I give you a portion of a post I did almost one year to the day – we had Samantha Power as the UN Ambassador who earlier in her career called for the invasion of Israel. The first clip a take on our new Ambassador who told the UN where it was at this past week. (They think we bullied apparently.) Then Samantha Power.

US Ambassador to the UN, Nikki Haley has sent a letter of warning to members of the UN General Assembly ahead of an emergency session to vote on a resolution calling for Trump’s Jerusalem decision to be withdrawn

Why Samantha Power lighted the U.N. Israel firestorm

Snip…..In 2002 Samantha Power made a statement, calling for a U.S. military invasion of Israel. Full transcript available at the youtube site.

Commentary Magazine: (An excellent piece, well worth the full read on our gal)

In a 2003 article for the New Republic, Power:  “The U.S,” she wrote, “came to be seen less as it sees itself (the cop protecting the world from rogue nations) than as the very runaway state international law needs to contain.”

Power wrote that America’s record in world affairs had been so harmful to the freedoms of people around the world that the United States could remedy the problem only through profound self-criticism and the wholesale adoption of new policies. Acknowledging that President Bush was correct in saying that “some America-bashers” hate the American people’s freedoms, Ms. Power stated that much anti-Americanism derives from the role that U.S. power “has played in denying such freedoms to others” and concluded:

U.S. foreign policy has to be rethought. It needs not tweaking but overhauling….Instituting a doctrine of mea culpa would enhance our credibility by showing that American decision-makers do not endorse the sins of their predecessors. When [then German Chancellor] Willie [sic] Brandt went down on one knee in the Warsaw ghetto, his gesture was gratifying to World War II survivors, but it was also ennobling and cathartic for Germany. Would such an approach be futile for the United States?

UN conference adopts treaty banning nuclear weapons

In a  little reported action of the U.N. last week, the world once again looked into that dark place which makes possible the total annihilation of human life on this beautiful orb known as Mother Earth. Mustang gives us his thoughts with his guest post today.

7 July 2017 – Countries meeting at a United Nations conference in New York adopted the Treaty on the Prohibition of Nuclear Weapons.

Controlling Nuclear Arms

Well, the good news is that several countries have participated in a UN conference designed to prohibit nuclear weapons.  According to Global Security, this was the first ever multilateral, legally-binding instrument for nuclear disarmament over the past 20 years.

The treaty passed by a vote of 122 for, one against (Netherlands), and one abstention (Singapore).  Prohibited will be the undertaking to develop, test, produce, manufacture, acquire, possess, or stockpile nuclear weapons or explosives.

Right.

I am not a fan of nuclear war.  Neither do I think the US was justified in dropping two atom bombs on Japan in 1945.  In late July 1945, the Japanese were ready to throw in the towel.  What led us down this unhappy road was no more than a thirst for revenge against the Japanese (never mind that FDR wanted a war with Japan as much as Elvis wanted his first guitar) —and our own hubris.  At the same time, how well is our prohibitions of firearms working?  Will it be any easier to manage caches of internationally placed atomic weapons, or those as may be stored in such Middle Eastern cesspools?

This move is typical of leftists who think that all we need to do to save the world from idiots such as Fat boy Kim, is to pass a law that cannot and will not be enforced.  I will even suggest that doing silly things such as this simply makes our world an even more dangerous place.  We will be sticking our heads in the sand, pretending that Pakistan, India, Iran, and Saudi Arabia really do not already have atomic weapons.  And, we’ll all be happier in our practiced ignorance.

No, sorry … I don’t buy it.  The only effective way of managing North Korea is to drop twenty or thirty MOABs at strategic locations throughout that godforsaken landscape, ten of which we should place at the epicenter Kim’s bedroom.

The icing on this cake is Costa Rica Ambassador Elayne Whyte Gomez, who told us, “We feel emotional because we are responding to the hopes and dreams of the present and future generations.  We are one step closer to a total elimination of nuclear weapons.”

Right … feeling emotional.

I came across this interesting quote the other day.  It concerns society during the Roman Empire.  “There was nothing inherently wrong with Roman society so long as the citizen’s basic needs were met.  The Roman was content to be ruled by his betters.  For him, that was the natural state of affairs.  All he asked was not to be abused by those in power.”

If this doesn’t describe modern socialist society, then I don’t know what does … and to make matters worse, we now have the United Nations organization dictating to us the way our world will be … how, or if, we may defend ourselves against nitwits (who also happen to be leftists).  It is an aspect of representative democracy that makes me cringe.  I did not elect Gomez to represent my interests in the United Nations … and once more, I will ask: how is that gun control thing working out in Chicago?
