“Nobody after two years of large-scale war can dictate conditions for waging this war in Ukraine.” So says Zelensky’s aide, Mykhailo Podolyak. Senior Ukrainian officials defended Kyiv’s attacks on oil infrastructure deep within Russian territory. Ukraine’s Deputy Prime Minister, Olha Stefanishyna, said refineries in Russia are legitimate targets.

As OilPrice details, Ukrainian drones hit the primary refining unit of Russia’s third-largest refinery southeast of Moscow more than 800 miles from the front line, Reuters reported on Tuesday. Ukraine keeps striking Russian oil assets despite the Biden admin’s unequivocal demands for a hard stop, suggesting that diplomatic fallout is now imminent.

The refinery has a capacity to process 340,000 barrels per day (bpd) of crude. Its primary refining unit, with a capacity to process about 155,000 bpd, was hit in Tuesday’s attack, according to pictures seen by Reuters. The unit caught fire, which was swiftly extinguished, Russian media report.

They also quote Ramil Mullin, the mayor of the city of Nizhnekamsk, where the refinery is located, as saying that there have been no injured people in the attack.

Ukraine has stepped up attacks on oil refineries in Russia in recent weeks, which have reduced Russian refining capacity, and which, reportedly, have the White House concerned about rising international prices.

The United States has repeatedly urged Ukraine to halt its drone attacks on Russian oil refineries due to Washington’s assessment that the strikes could lead to Russian retaliation and push up global oil prices, the Financial Times reported last month, citing sources familiar with the exchange.

FBI Special Counsel Mueller: ‘I Have to Check to See If Obama Has the Right to Kill Americans On U S Soil’

While we once again will hear how another “White Knight” comes before us in the form of Mueller to dig about the swamp, looking for some heads to claim, I suggest he is anything but that very special person. You can read elsewhere how he and Comey saved our Constitution at a hospital bedside. This is the real Mueller, another political hack. You see, Obama had a kill list. He had a peculiar taste for it.

It’s been well reported that Obama and his top minions have a so-called “kill list” of which he takes a particular interest. The question is where does it start and where does it stop? The issue of his killing Americans abroad brought a fire storm, and does he have the authority to kill Americans. Here. On U.S. soil?

FBI Director Robert Mueller on Wednesday said he would have to go back and check with the Department of Justice whether Attorney General Eric Holder’s “three criteria” for the targeted killing of Americans also applied to Americans inside the U.S.

“Due process and judicial process are not one and the same, particularly when it comes to national security. The Constitution guarantees due process, not judicial process,” Holder said.

But Jonathan Turley, a law professor at George Washington University, wrote in Foreign Policy magazine on Wednesday that Holder’s remarks not only would be seen by the framers of the Constitution as “the very definition of authoritarian power,” but were met “not with outcry but muted applause.”

“Holder’s new definition of ‘due process’ was perfectly Orwellian,” Turley wrote. “What Holder is describing is a model of an imperial presidency that would have made Richard Nixon blush. …

“Where due process once resided, Holder offered only an assurance that the president would kill citizens with care. While that certainly relieved any concern that Obama would hunt citizens for sport, Holder offered no assurances on how this power would be used in the future beyond the now all-too-familiar ‘trust us’ approach to civil liberties of this administration,” he wrote.

Obama’s friday’s dump – Executive order on drone policy

I wondered what the news dump would be this Friday before the Fourth. We have it in the headline President Obama’s Executive Order on Pre/Post Airstrike Policies …

It’s intent was to lay out “best practices.” A sterile approach to the one way Obama gets his head into killing off bad guys.

“Turns out I’m really good at killing people,” Obama said quietly, “Didn’t know that was gonna be a strong suit of mine.”Al-Awlaki’s 16-year-old son, Abdulrahman, who was an American citizen, was killed in a separate drone strike two weeks after his father.

“My grandson was killed by his own government,” the teenager’s grandfather Nasser al-Awlaki wrote in a New York Times op-ed in July.

Finally, we get no information when he chooses to assassinate a targeted named individual. I have no problem using drones in the field of battle. But how far do we want to go with sending drones into countries we have not declared war upon, and kill. And we do kill a lot of civilians as we go about this task. How would you like looking up and seeing bombs raining down from  a drone sent to us by Mexico? Just saying. So the news you will see about this story will be the kill numbers, and will be hotly debated. I will leave you with this clip. Think about it.

New FBI Director has agents visiting MLK monument

I could not resist a revisit of James Comey, the new FBI Director, when I read that he now has new agents visiting MLK’s monument. Two posts today. First a refresher on Comfey:

What you will not hear from the Obama-friendly media, and our somnolent members of Congress, is this: Not only was the Patriot Act expanded under the supervision of Comey, Mueller and Ashcroft, when Comey left the AG’s office in 2005 he went to work as the top lawyer for…wait for it…”Big Brother” himself – Lockheed Martin.

When most people hear Lockheed Martin they think military contracts. Well, welcome to 1984. “Big Brother” is another name for Lockheed Martin, and security and surveillance is their game. They’ve been working closely with the National Security Agency (AKA: NSA, as in No Such Agency) for many years.

So ask yourself: Why would the Obama regime appoint a new FBI Director who works for a prime contractor that sells NSA the technology to spy on Americans? Would PETA hire a fur coat distributor?

Oh, by the way, where’s John Ashcroft today? Why he’s on the Board of Directors of Blackwater USA, which now goes by the harmless sounding name – Academi – conjuring up images of ivy-covered buildings and lounging intellectuals.

So in the days ahead, when the media and politicians tell you that James B. Comey will stand up for your civil liberties as FBI Director (citing a hospital room performance over the Patriot Act), remember: If Comey didn’t support spying on Americans, why would he work for a leading company that sells the government the tools to spy on Americans?

Obama administration admits killing 16 year old in drone attack a mistake

So Barry admits he did a oopsie when he killed al-walki’s 16-year-old son. It has plagued me during these months that little attention has been paid to the son, but rather just his father. Not one word about him was mentioned at the hearings. It is the son that has been my issue. What was the evidence against a 16 year-old that deserved a drone? Let me first give you a reminder of the path we are going down here in the U.S.

CNET News: (Only obtained by a FOIA request) that is how we know.

Homeland Security’s specifications say drones must be able to detect whether a civilian is armed. Also specified: “signals interception” and “direction finding” for electronic surveillance.

Homeland Security’s specifications for its drones, built by San Diego-based General Atomics Aeronautical Systems, say they “shall be capable of identifying a standing human being at night as likely armed or not,” meaning carrying a shotgun or rifle. They also specify “signals interception” technology that can capture communications in the frequency ranges used by mobile phones, and “direction finding” technology that can identify the locations of mobile devices or two-way radios.

The Electronic Privacy Information Center obtained a partially redacted copy of Homeland Security’s requirements for its drone fleet through the Freedom of Information Act and published it this week. CNET unearthed an unredacted copy of the requirements that provides additional information about the aircraft’s surveillance capabilities.

Oops!… Obama Adminstration Admits Killing 16 Year-Old Denver Boy in Drone Strike Was a Mistake

Barack Obama is the official who makes the final call on overseas drone strikes.

This weekend, The New York Times reported that US officials now admit that the drone bombing of the Denver teen was a mistake.
The New York Times reported:

The missile strike on Sept. 30, 2011, that killed Mr. Awlaki — a terrorist leader whose death lawyers in the Obama administration believed to be justifiable — also killed Mr. Khan, though officials had judged he was not a significant enough threat to warrant being specifically targeted. The next month, another drone strike mistakenly killed Mr. Awlaki’s 16-year-old son, Abdulrahman, who had set off into the Yemeni desert in search of his father. Gingrich: ‘McCain’s attack on Paul sad’

 Gingrich takes on McCain and calls him sad. Understatement of the year. The Grand Old Party should be declared dead. The word “Old” needs to be replaced with new. As the song says, “Get out of the old road if you can’t lend a hand, cause the times they are a changing. A nice little rant going here. What troubles me is they never talk about Al-alwaki’s son that was blasted away a week after his father was killed while sitting in a  restaurant.

 Gingrich said he was “disappointed” by McCain’s decision to “lecture” Sen. Rand Paul (R-KY) and those senators who joined him in his Wednesday filibuster. “I don’t know what’s happened to John McCain, but I find this very sad,” Gingrich said. “So, who are you with?” Blitzer asked Gingrich pointedly regarding the feud between the Senate GOP’s younger and older members over the Obama administration’s drone warfare program. “The McCains or the Rand Pauls?”

“Well, I’m really disappointed in John McCain, and I’m very saddened by it,” Gingrich replied. “McCain, in his younger years, was a great maverick. He took on his party all the time.”

The idea that he’s now lecturing the next generation because they have the guts to stand up, which is I — I would have thought John McCain we do have applauded them and he would have said, I may not agree with you in detail, but I’m proud of the fact that you’re standing up for your beliefs, you’re fighting.
Gingrich added that Paul was correct to question the Department of Justice’s presumed legal authority to execute and American citizen on U.S. soil without due process via a drone strike.

“I mean, if our Constitution means anything, it means that your government can’t capriciously kill you without the rule of law,” Gingrich asserted. “And it was very clear from the attorney general’s earlier letters that they were reserving the right — remember, we’re not talking about a combatant engaged in fighting against the US. The minute you do that, you lose all your rights.”

Senator Angus King: Drones Are ‘A More Humane Weapon’

These Independents are a menace. What is with these Maine folks who keep forgetting about the Constitution? Before the video, just a refresher on part of the NDAA.

Senator Angus King (I., Maine) appeared on MSNBC Friday to review his Senate Intelligence Committee hearing that pressed CIA Director nominee John Brennan about the White House’s drone program.

King spoke in favor of drones, describing the targeting killings as “smart artillery” and “civilized.” King did clarify that due process must be included in drone strikes. Sure.

NDAA: (For those who want more info: John Conners on the NDAA  and the ACLU  for more on U,S, soil is cosidered a battlefied).

In a stunning move that has civil libertarians stuttering with disbelief, the U.S. Senate has just passed a bill that effectively ends the Bill of Rights in America.

On Friday’s broadcast of MSNBC’s “Morning Joe,” Maine independent Sen. Angus King made the case that the use of drone warfare actually is not as evil as some of the detractors have suggested.

According to King, drones are less likely to inflict casualties upon civilians than other military operations undertaken in the last 1,000 years of warfare.

“To be honest, I believe that drones are a lot more civilized than what we used to do, you know, when [William Tecumseh] Sherman shelled Atlanta or when the Allies firebombed Dresden in World War II, it was all collateral damage. It was virtually all civilians. And that’s the way — that was the way of war until very recently,” he said. “The drones, although there is some collateral damage, basically is a very smart artillery shell. And we’ve been shooting artillery shells over miles and miles for many years and hoping they hit the right target. I think there’s just something creepy about drones that they can be controlled and people are uneasy about it. But if you put it in a context of 1,000 years of war, I think it’s actually a more humane weapon because it can be targeted to specific enemies and specific people.”

Obama’s secret ‘kill list’ not shared with Romney

Strange isn’t it. The Progressives have no trouble with Obama’s “Kill list”. But trouble with water boarding which might actually get information that would more likely save lives. I have been on the story of our drone bombing which has been causing many civilian casualties and instigating unrest from the populations. So here is an update on Obama’s list, First a bit of what is going down.

The matter may have lost some urgency after Nov. 6. But with more than 300 drone strikes and some 2,500 people killed by the Central Intelligence Agency and the military since Mr. Obama first took office, the administration is still pushing to make the rules formal and resolve internal uncertainty and disagreement about exactly when lethal action is justified.

“One of the things we’ve got to do is put a legal architecture in place, and we need Congressional help in order to do that, to make sure that not only am I reined in but any president’s reined in terms of some of the decisions that we’re making,” Mr. Obama told Jon Stewart in an appearance on “The Daily Show” on Oct. 18. The administration of United States President Barack Obama feared they might lose re-election and in the weeks before Election Day began to develop a set of rules for using drones, according to a New York Times report by Scott Shane.

…“There was concern that the levers might no longer be in our hands,” said one official, speaking on condition of anonymity. With a continuing debate about the proper limits of drone strikes, Mr. Obama did not want to leave an “amorphous” program to his successor, the official said. The effort, which would have been rushed to completion by January had Mr. Romney won, will now be finished at a more leisurely pace, the official said.

The revelation is remarkable in that it shows GOP presidential candidate Mitt Romney—not the fact that the power to extrajudicially kill people suspected of committing or having ties to terrorism was being claimed—was why the administration began to have increased concerns over drone warfare.

A video had circulated just after the Democratic National Convention in Charlotte, North Carolina, where John Cook was stopping Democrats to ask if Romney could be trusted with the kill list. It was a shrewd way to expose how they had given Obama a pass to normalize targeted killings when they would not like the program if a Republican had the power. Lanny Davis, who served as special counsel to President Bill Clinton, said, “I’m not regarding that question as a serious questions so I’m not interested in your interview.” Sen. Charles Schumer answered, “I don’t think he’ll do that, but I think there are a lot of other issues we shouldn’t trust him on.” Gloria Allred, a lawyer known for taking women’s rights cases, did not answer the question but in a follow-up stated she would trust Obama “one thousand percent” with the decision to extrajudicially assassinate people on the kill list.

Drones Away – more kinetic Actions – here, there, everywhere

Yesterday I reported that the U.S. is now involved militarily in Somalia, I read today that we are now moving South with our drones. While Obama is out there with the bit of “Pass this bill right away” to “we can’t wait” there is zero coverage of his engagements. This one is critical. We are on the verge of losing the port that will control the oil shipments. No announcement to Congress or the American people who will be footing this bill with our treasure and blood no doubt. Can you imagine if this was Bush? We deserve to know what is going on. Why isn’t NATO involved in this? Its their oil that they need.

A Somali government official, who spoke on the condition of unanimity, told Press TV that there are secret US bases in Kenya mainly used for flying American pilot less drone bombers.

He also said that there are secret US jails in Kenya where hundreds of young people, captured in Somalia, are being held.

The US has increased the number of its attacks by unmanned surveillance aircraft in Somalia. Many civilians have died as a result.

Al-Qaida may be on the verge of taking over the major port city of Aden in southern Yemen where “powerful explosions” and fighting are reported, according to Joseph Farah’s G2 Bulletin.

Islamist sources say that Al-Qaida on the Arabian Peninsula, or AQAP, is trying to establish full control.

The location of Aden is strategic, because control of the city can affect oil supplies to Western countries. Islamist and independent sources also report that al-Qaida fighters are in virtual control of the Yemeni Emirate of Abyan and Shabwa, where U.S. drones already are appearing.

Sources say that Fahd al-Qusa, who is considered to be the most important member of al-Qaida after al-Qaida leader Ayman Mohammed Rabie al-Zawahiri, is leading the effort in Yemen.
