Administration Warns of ‘Command-and-Control’ Regulation Over Emissions

This ain’t no Chicago– and time for congress to straighten out our wandering marxist. Who was this spokesman? All congress has to do is tell the EPA where to go in a one page piece of legislation. Bully Bully no more.

The Obama administration is warning Congress that if it doesn’t move to regulate greenhouse gases, the Environmental Protection Agency will take a “command-and-control” role over the process in a way that could hurt business.  

But while administration officials have long said they prefer Congress take action on climate change, the economic official who spoke with reporters Tuesday night made clear that the EPA will not wait and is prepared to act on its own. 

And it won’t be pretty. 

“If you don’t pass this legislation, then … the EPA is going to have to regulate in this area,” the official said. “And it is not going to be able to regulate on a market-based way, so it’s going to have to regulate in a command-and-control way, which will probably generate even more uncertainty.” 

Climate change legislation that passed the House is stuck in the Senate, but the EPA finding Monday was seen as a boost to the U.S. delegation in Denmark trying to convince other countries that Washington is capable of taking action to follow through with any global commitments.

Saudis Want Independent Investigation of Climategate

The UN knows it can push the US around when it comes to the “global warming” hysteria lead by the inventor of the internet, Al “manpigbear” Gore.  But it will be another matter to push the Saudi’s around where they live, breath and die with their oil industry.

Mecca and Medinah, the two holiest places in Islam, may reside with in the borders of Saudi Arabia lives and dies by oil alone.

 

Everyone knows that.  Petroleum and petroleum products is 90% of Saudi’s exports.  That desert nation did sign the Climate Change-Kyoto Protocol, but never ratified it, and now, the kindom is in Copenhagen and is not amused:

 

Saudia Arabia told global warming talks on Monday that trust in climate science had been “shaken” by leaked emails among experts and called for an international probe.

 

“The level of trust is definitely shaken, especially now that we are about to conclude an agreement that … is going to mean sacrifices for our economies,” said Mohammed al-Sabban, the kingdom’s top climate negotiator, told delegates at the opening of December 7-18 UN talks.

 

Al-Sabban called for an “independent” international investigation, but said that the UN climate science body was unqualified to carry it out.

 

The Left, the MSM and the White House may ignore ClimateGate, but ignoring a major oil producing nation is another matter.  Saudi Arabia can and will kill any agreement which endangers its sovereignty.

DID THE RUSSIANS SINK ALGORE’S CASH COW?

JEEZ… Can it be the Russians – in a self serving move – might have shed the light on truth that undermines the ‘sky is falling’ dogma of  the Goracle?

“Jean-Pascal van Ypersele, a vice-chairman of the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC), said that the theft from the University of East Anglia’s Climatic Research Unit (CRU) was not the work of amateur climate sceptics, but was a sophisticated and well-funded attempt to destroy public confidence in the science of man-made climate change. He said the fact that the e-mails were first uploaded to a sceptic website from a computer in Russia was an indication that the culprit was paid.”

But but but..he and the O (Obama not Oprah) were suppose to hook up and chit chat about how to dither in Denmark! What’s O to do?
“In the wake of the Climategate scandal, manbearpig Al Gore has decided to cancel his  “climate lecture” in Copenhagen citing unforeseen changes in his schedule. ” The shepard apparently whines.

And if the story is being pointed at the Russians…. Who would benefit from that?
Every once in a while Comrade Matrix misses the investigative journalist the MSM use to have.   Apparently without them they have nothing to say.

Al Gore– ultimate hypocrite- and almost President?

According to public disclosure information, Gore was worth somewhere between $1 million and $2 million in 2000. Not quite eight years later, Gore is estimated to be worth somewhere in the neighborhood of $100 million.Not enough for the gag reflex to kick in?

Gore backs out of his planned hand-shaking appearance in Copenhagen. Perhaps because anyone allowed to get that close might be able to ask a question. (Should Al Gore’s Oscar be rescinded?

After all his whining about the dangers of fossil fuels and coal-powered electricity plants, and after assuring us we can be “carbon free” by paying attention to “where we set the thermostat, [and] keeping [our] a/c and furnace filters clean,” Gore’s 2006 utility bills for his Nashville home topped $30,000.

His home energy use was literally 20 times the national average.

 

But Gore is as blind to his own hypocrisy as he is to reality. And he apparently doesn’t want to take the risk of being corrected. He has refused to engage in an honest debate about the doomsday claims he’s made since he grew concerned over the threat human beings posed to “the spotted owl and the snail darter” in 1992. This was obvious when Gore finished speaking to 500 “environmental journalists” in Madison, Wisconsin, on October 9, 2009. After the speech, Irish filmmaker Phelim McAleer “[asked] Gore to address nine errors in his film identified by a British court in 2007.”

Regardless of Gore’s motivation in backing out of Copenhagen, it’s understandable that he avoids debate at all costs. He is, after all, a fraud — about whom Bob Carter of Australia’s Marine Geophysical Laboratory, said: “Gore’s circumstantial arguments are so weak that they are pathetic.”

The UN and Obama Administration’s Refusal to Investigate “Climategate”

The U.N.’s decision this week to investigate whether some of its climate change research had been manipulated constitutes a “direct rebuke” of the Obama administration, Rep. Darrell Issa (R-Calif.) said Friday.

The White House’s unwillingness to open a similar inquiry could now only be characterized as “a sad abdication of their responsibility to ensure that U.S. policies are not driven by corrupted science and data,” the congressman added.

“The very integrity of the report that the Obama administration has predicated much of its climate change policy has been called into question and it is unconscionable that this administration and Congress is willing to abdicate responsibility of uncovering the truth to the United Nations,” explained Issa, the ranking member on the House Oversight and Government Reform Committee.

Motivating Issa’s calls for a probe into climate change research, and the U.N.’s decision to launch one, was the publication last month of thousands of e-mails and other documents that global warming skeptics say prove the phenomenon does not exist.

Some of those e-mails contained discussions about how to best portray data sets, among other topics. Scientists maintain their comments have been taken out of context, but those who fiercely oppose the climate change thesis argue the e-mails invalidate all the research.

The U.N. announced it would probe that data this week, mostly because some of the research in question touches on related work either completed or promoted by its own Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC).
But the White House has largely dismissed the litany of Republican calls to open an inquiry into that research — Issa’s included — because its top scientists contend one controversy hardly undermines decades of more reliable research on climate change.

“It is important to understand that these kinds of controversies and even accusations of bias and improper manipulation are not all that uncommon in science, in all branches of science,” said Dr. John Holdren, the president’s science adviser.
