A sample circle: Session Zero
Session 0 is a ‘sample’ session designed for you to develop your understanding of maths circles. You can then offer one or more ‘taster’ session(s) for mathematicians that are interested in participating but seeking more information about the programme. Continue reading
Our approach to problem-solving
Problem-solving is often seen as a black box. Children are thought to become good at it by exposure to lots of problems, or by “doing problem-solving”. At some point, they become able to solve problems. In this sense, it is a mystical ability that some children develop. For others it remains a mystery. Continue reading
Our curriculum
Axiom Maths is taught enrichment programme. Pupils progress systematically through connected ideas, which develop deep mathematical significance: for example, combinatorics and geometry. They increase and improve their factual knowledge and procedural fluency as they do so. The focus of a circle session is the underlying mathematical structure of the content. Continue reading
Our online circles
Our approach to online learning
At Axiom Maths, we believe that high-quality mathematical education should be accessible to all pupils who would benefit from it. While our in-school programme remains our primary offering, we recognise that some pupils will benefit more from online learning and not every school has the capacity or resources to deliver in-school sessions. Online maths circles
Axiom Maths circles is a 5-year taught enrichment programme working with pupils from Year 7 to Year 11. If pupils join our online programme, they will attend weekly online maths circles using our online learning platform, Vedamo. Our curriculum has been created to inspire and challenge young minds, with problems that excite them to the point that they lose themselves in the maths. Continue reading
