Epilepsy Demystified: Symptoms, Seizures, Types and Treatment Options

Abstract
Epilepsy is a long-term neurological condition where seizures recur due to abnormal electrical signals in the brain. These seizures can vary, with focal seizures starting in one area of the brain and generalized seizures affecting the brain more broadly. Diagnosing epilepsy involves looking at your medical history, symptoms, and tests like EEG or brain scans to get a clear picture. Treatment usually includes medications to control seizures, lifestyle adjustments, and sometimes surgery. If you remain seizure-free for 2 to 4 years, your doctor might gradually lower your medication and consider stopping it altogether.
