I'm remembering the edicts I grew up with: don't wear that; don't go out alone; don't give the wrong idea; don't look or respond, walk away (fast) & why were you there in the first place? Also: don't complain, we're post-feminism now; be nice. Oh. And smile. #ReclaimTheStreets

Another man, moves to sit opposite us. Starts saying exactly the same things to the creep. He just wants to be friends with him, why's he ignoring him, etc. Creep shuts up. And doesn't follow me. (I still alighted at a different stop from normal though)

On a bus years ago, several seats available: a man sits next to me, asks me out. I say no. He pushes. Says he wants to be friends, that I'm being rude by ignoring him, that he wants to talk in private...so he'll get off at my stop... 1/2

Language matters. It socialises us. We hear 'had sex' and most unconsciously associate it with something that isn't harmful. The right language here is rape, sexual assault, sexual abuse. Please get this right for survivors.

In my late teens, I had an actual injunction order against a man who had been harassing me. When he turned up at the house I was staying at, I called the police. They came, but said: he only wants to talk. Whereas I was described as "hysterical".

Thank you🙏🏽 This was in the nineties, but we're still here aren't we? If I'm out on my own, I always expect a 50% probability of something similar. I just couldn't think of a more recent example where someone stepped in to help 🙃

Given Julie's decades-long commitment to tackling violence against women and girls, isn't this antithetical to promoting safety, respect and consideration?

We need this not to happen in the first place of course, but in the meantime, we need more allies like this!

It's vile. Also a double-standard as apparently it's fine to still name men. And it's dangerous. If we can't name a sex class, then we can't fight inequalities faced by them. And it seems to be women we can't name. There are better ways of being inclusive. Misogyny ain't it.

I know right? I was naively hopeful after #MeToo , but no change yet.

At the time I never thought about the pervasive sexism. Now it's writ large. And more than 2 decades on, we're still here. Sickening.

Hi 1950👋. Question: who picks up the tab when men work instead of caring for their relatives?

Energised after a fantastic webinar to launch our IMG Induction with @RaoMala 🙌🏽 Great engagement, 60+ attendees & consensus from system partners that this is a no-brainer. IMGs bring so much to the NHS. They deserve a supportive, welcoming induction. Let's make it happen!
