"the myth that it is men who are doing all the dangerous jobs while women lounge around being fed bon-bons is a powerful one"...but as I explore in this week's newsletter, it's also exactly that: a myth. And it's a dangerous one.

- Great to be back on Victoria Embankment and walk past my old friend, and favourite example of how men vs women are depicted in statues: man, real historical figure, literally just a head because he’s so brainy; woman: mythical, fawning, forgot to get dressed
- fun fact! female feet are not small male feet; they have a different shape. But the vast majority of shoes are designed using a male last and simply scaled down for so-called "women's shoes". This is why they rub your toes & your ankles lift up.Replying to @ProfTimBale @aveek18 and @CCriadoPerezYup, famously true here too. The men’s medalists in the Rio 2016 marathon all [secretly] wore prototype Vaporflys (and would have got a very big boost from them), while the women didn’t letsrun.com/news/2020/01/b…
- hahaha I'm choosing to believe this is me in an alternate universe

- stay at home mums are not economically inactive, hthExc: Stay at home mums will be wooed to the office in a fresh back to work blitz. Partners of Brits on benefits may be specifically targeted to get a job under plans being considered by ministers. Part of drive to get economically inactive back to work thesun.co.uk/news/politics/…
- Speaking for all British people, as is my right and privilege, of all the changes made by the committee of whatever to the Dahl books, this may be the most egregious 😱
- Well. I’m sure the thousands of female healthcare workers who struggled with default male PPE that did not fit them now feel very reassured by Simon Stevens’ claim to the PM that there was “no problem”. It must be nice to know it was all in their heads.

- eesh...I mean, I LOVE hot pink (wearing it right now) but what on earth is the point of this? A far better celebration would be eg highlighting a brilliant unsung female writer every day throughout the month of March...Pink isn't just a colour, it's an attitude. We are SO excited to unveil our brand-new, dazzlingly pink logo to celebrate Women's History Month and International Women's Day 🙌
00:00 - WOW. @TikTokSupport has taken down my post about this new study down for “misinformation.” My post about how THE FAILURE TO PROVIDE WOMEN WITH ACCURATE DATA-DRIVEN INFORMATION DRIVES MISINFORMATION. Nice one, TikTok. @tiktok_usNew study finds that post-menopausal women were 3x more likely to experience vaginal bleeding after the covid vaccine...and I'm furious about it. But why? I love data, don't I? newsletter.carolinecriadoperez.com/p/invisible-wo…
00:00 - Always enjoy being reminded how many people think that people who don’t have children (many of them not by choice let’s not forget) are somehow less evolved.Of course politicians don’t have to be parents. But having children does give you a different perspective on the future. Raising kids makes you less tolerant of liberal individualism & more keen on maintaining boundaries that protect children. Parents’ voices are important.
- God this is absolutely INFURIATING. For someone who clearly has not read ANY of the research on this issue to airily dismiss the problems with PPE raised by MANY healthcare workers (and later borne out by belated data) is ENRAGING. The breathtaking, arrogant carelessness.Well. I’m sure the thousands of female healthcare workers who struggled with default male PPE that did not fit them now feel very reassured by Simon Stevens’ claim to the PM that there was “no problem”. It must be nice to know it was all in their heads.
