We recently contacted @AdultWorkcom requesting the removal of their policy charging workers to advertise in a new location, and that all other charges should remain payable using credits. We will continue to push AW on this until we receive an appropriate reply.

WE BEAT ANOTHER STRIP CLUB BAN! Over the last 2 years, our members have been fighting @Edinburgh_CC to prevent their workplaces from being shut down under a nil-cap. Today the council voted to keep the current cap of 3 in place, with an option for a worker run club to open. 🧵

For sex workers, this isn’t an extraordinary story, it is an all too common nightmare. Many of us have had our bank accounts closed without warning, further isolating us from participating in a society that already pushes us to the margins.

This is an extraordinary story. The idea someone can not access banking because of their political views is deeply dangerous & at odds with living in a democracy. Without access to banking you can’t operate in a modern society - ideally it would be enshrined in law (1/1)

In New Zealand, a brothel worker took her boss to an employment tribunal for sexual harassment and won. Under decriminalisation, sex workers are able to use employment law to uphold existing practices of consent and challenge poor conditions.

Criminalising sex workers does nothing but harm. Realistically, what does this achieve? Is this worker any safer with criminalisation? No, obviously not. Carceral policies surrounding sex work only serve to punish and inflict violence upon sex workers.

We are not going to engage with the misogyny, Islamophobia and fetishisation of violence against us that we’ve been subject to the last few days - but we do want to make one thing clear. Solidarity is not, and never should be, conditional. Especially in the face of genocide.
