Will medicine deal with the industrial level medical 'healthwashing' Drs gave to survivors of sexual exploitation or will it carry on gaslighting male violence against women & girls? /6

Alex! I am so sad as we must have failed terribly in our teaching you O&G at STH.😢 Sex is not a spectrum. All of us started from egg & sperm. No other gametes. Biology will neither smash patriarchy nor trans lives; its indifferent. But culture...

I'm sad any Dr would insult @UKSupremeCourt judges who didn't define 'woman' (para 2 of ruling). They interpreted the law. Drs who unwisely opine beyond their expertise (by defn no specialists @BMA conference) bring disrepute to us all @GMC @GLADDUK /1
This motion defending the rights of trans and intersex people and condemning the Supreme Court's ruling on the definition of a woman was passed at Saturday's @BMAResidents Conference - thank you to these residents. The EHRC guidance arising from this ruling is deeply problematic.
Screenshot of the emergency motion, which condemns the Supreme Court's ruling on the definition of the term "woman" as reductive, trans- and intersex-exclusionary and biologically nonsensical; reaffirms the BMA's position affirming the rights of trans and NB individuals; reminds the court of the existence of intersex people; condemns the scientific illiteracy of the ruling; and commits to strive for better access to necessary health services for trans, NB and gender-diverse people (but with more words).

Dear Adrian, I'm sure you wouldn't wish to encourage reckless prescribing. 1/ As with any drug, the harm:benefit ratio depends on indication, dose, time etc. Insulin is vital in Type 1 diabetes, and can be fatal in the well

I find the badge superficial. Its 'faux friendly' but unprofessional as it doesn't use full name. A full name suggests you're an adult with nothing to hide. First name only is like being a child or the anonymous burger server at McDonalds @TheBMA @gmcuk @pash22 @mgtmccartney

Does it really need researchers to find the harms of strangulation like this? Apparently "Choking or partnered strangulation is an emerging and popular sexual behavior that is more often experienced by young women" Oh yeah? Popular with who?/1

2/ There is no comparison with menopause guidance nice.org.uk/guidance/ng23. The menopause is not a disease of oestrogen deficiency (but a kind of withdrawal from one normal level to another), there is a LOT of research. @NICEComms

It's a very well written & interesting review. 'Girl' & 'woman' do appear. But @TheLancet front cover just says "Historically, the anatomy & physiology of bodies with vaginas have been neglected". What a way to call out institutional sexism whilst belittling 1/2 human species!

6/ Some people might think it mischievious to deliberately muddle the (usually temporary & well researched) prescribing of oestrogens for women with menopausal symptoms with the (planned permanent & less well documented) prescribing of oestogens to natal male/ transwomen.

All your phone lines are down. Have the evidence-based trans Greentop Guidelines promised 2 years ago been written yet? Given the JR applied Gillick why are you falsely saying it affects access to RSH? It doesn't. Did you consult members? @morris_ep @DrsforChoice_UK

Brilliant animation showing the cumulative deaths worldwide day by day globally. So educational about 'usual causes' & were Covid-19 fits in (& this is still early days..). Do share @HealthWatchUK @pash22 @Johnrashton47 @trishgreenhalgh @mgtmccartney public.flourish.studio/visualisation/…

7/ I want to do right by all patients, with compassion and dignity. But when asking GPs to prescribe drugs for life (& more esp for new group of female-to-male adolescents), I think its OK to ask for & generate evidence. DOI Chair @HealthWatchUK

I find it hard to agree here. What made Guyatt (a highly respected scientist) realize this extra responsibility? Why step 'out of lane' & out of academic fora to discharge it now & opine to policymakers (a kind of global call of 'how to mark my homework')? He didn't before /1
Legislators have unconscionably misused our #SystematicReviews of #GenderTransition interventions to deny #PatientsCare. Formerly, I thought my job ended with conducting and reporting high quality research. I now realize I have an additional responsibility to address how my work
