Toronto police have stated that they are unaware of any real threats to TIFF. "The decision to suspend the screenings were made by TIFF organizers 'and was not based on any recommendation from Toronto Police', who are not aware of any active threats." globalnews.ca/news/10752951/…

An emergent NAFO campaign, triggered by TIFF's announcement of RUSSIANS AT WAR several weeks ago, endorsed and amplified by Canadian politicians, validated and incited the material hostility and direct threats leading to TIFF's pause of its RaW screenings.

*RUSSIANS AT WAR. Thanks for the spell check @calxandr (my bad, busy day defending truth and a free media). Oh yeah, and for the PR. We had no marketing budget, nobody would've known this film existed. X is fun. I've rarely ever posted. Good luck defending your useful idiocy.

By Thursday morning, I had experienced and observed enough online hate (much Toronto-based) to be highly alarmed. It was likely a small sample size compared to what tiff's security counsel would have been monitoring in online chat groups and channels.

Cultural events, spaces and institutions that receive public funding must be protected against political rebukes and threats to their programming autonomy. It’s imperative for private citizens to demand accountability.

Good start @KyivIndependent. You are now actually discussing the film instead of how we are spending our "taxpayer money" here in Canada (even if you fail to mention the public funding you've received from our Canadian gov't, which I fully support). Can I write something for you?

The filmmakers behind “Russians at War” have argued that a lot of the negative press surrounding the documentary comes from people who haven’t seen it. We asked the opinion of people in the film industry who have. kyivindependent.com/is-russians-at…

It's a Canada-France co-production. The director is a Canadian citizen who, besides the past RTD work y'all love to mention, has worked with experienced journalists from CBC, New York Times, and WaPo, to select a few. The film was produced by Canadian and French producers with
