I have enjoyed not looking at X/Twitter for the past few weeks. I propose repeating the exercise indefinitely. Please assume that I will NOT see your posts (even if I am tagged in).

I want to wish a peaceful and healthy 2020 to everyone. To those suffering from the spectre of the loan charge, the partial success from the Morse Report doesn't mean that I'll stop my efforts to obtain justice and the removal of all retrospection. There's still work to be done.

If I were an MP and I were faced with a choice: 1) focus on my short-term career prospects or 2) do the right thing, even if it means defying a whip, I would see how I might be judged by history. If I were an MP today, I would unhesitatingly vote for NC31.

I can confirm that I am attending to give evidence next week.

I shall be discussing the loan charge with @theJeremyVine and @RichardJMurphy on @BBCRadio2 on Tuesday 7th January at about 12.30.

I would urge all MPs to support NC31. It does NOT clear historical tax debts. It LETS HMRC exercise their full range of administrative powers (enquiries/assessments) to challenge loan schemes provided (as they mostly did) HMRC took timely action under Taxes Management Act 1970.

I had my meeting with Sir Amyas Morse yesterday. I believe he is engaged with the issue and willing to listen. Time permitting, a redacted witness statement to follow.

Thank you to those who voted for me. I’d like to dedicate this award to the victims of the loan charge and all those who are helping them.
The winner of Outstanding Contribution to Tax as chosen by you is @keithmgordon Congratulations Keith! #taxawards2019

I try to avoid making overtly political comments. However, I must express concern at the prospect of Mel Stride taking over the chair of the TSC on Tuesday.

Apparently, the only people interested in the loan charge are the "die hard LC crowd". I wonder how many people fall within that definition. Please RT if you are interested.

A contractor has just won an IR35 decision at the Tribunal. (So it is not just TV/radio presenters.) The Tribunal's website has not yet been updated to include the decision but I suspect that it is just a matter of time before it is fully visible to the public.

Do you @jesse_norman really believe that "the several billion pounds" trumps human life? I thought you were better than that. Even leaving humanity aside, your briefing is wholly incorrect and should make you further question the reliability of what officials are saying. TBC

My latest submission to Sir Amyas Morse on the loan charge containing my response to my colleague's blog piece seeking a just solution.

Very occasionally, Tribunal hearings need to be postponed at short notice. By chance, I had two such instances last week. Spot the difference.
