My response to the backlash from cleb gardeners about rewilding. I do hope they listen. It's not about abandoning your garden. It's about thinking about nature first.

So beyond stoked about the discovery of large tortoiseshells breeding here @kneppwilding - a butterfly officially labelled as extinct in the UK. Loving our scrubland. Well spotted Neil Hulme and @MatthewOates76!

So excited, can hardly contain myself. So much sallow and scrub and boggy bits for the beavers to get to work on. Can’t wait to see what they’ll do. Though it’ll be a hard push for us to get the enclosure infrastructure in for a spring release. We’ll be doing our best.

So excited to have these wonderful birds bill-clattering in our oak tree - quite possibly the first free-flying storks to nest successfully in England since we persecuted them to extinction after the English Civil War. durrell.org/wildlife/news/…

A plea to allow the natural regeneration of trees in our countryside.....#rewilding #nature #trees

Really excited to share our live webcam from Knepp. If you get an empty nest, do persist. The birds will be off feeding or finding nest material. Activity will be hotting up over the next few weeks. It's a soothing and strangely addictive distraction.

So excited to see our beaver kits for the first time. Amazing how the parents have kept them so well hidden until they're almost adult-sized.

Under the new DEFRA metric brambles, ragwort and thorny scrub indicate degraded land. Much of Knepp would barely register for biodiversity. Something wrong there. @NaturalEngland @KneppSafaris
I am retweeting this short video to illustrate a possible problem with the new biodiversity metric @CharlieBurrell_ @woodlandbirder @EntoProf and importance of #ragwort @NaturalEngland

Grrrrrr…..when will the demonisation of ragwort ever end and common sense prevail? It’s a myth that refuses to lie down, even amongst so-called nature-lovers.
Article on ragwort by @BBCCountryfile fails to mention the very important point that livestock simply don't eat ragwort unless it is dried and made into hay. Ragwort is a beautiful native wildflower and a fantastic resource for pollinators. countryfile.com/wildlife/trees…

Wonderful footage by our own Ryan Greaves of a turtle dove turr-turring at Knepp this morning #rewilding #natureconservation #speciesonthebrink

Amazing photo of a white-tailed eagle flying over @kneppsafaris yesterday taken by one of our volunteers, John Hamilton. It circled with our white storks before flying up high, and on. @ProjectStork @RoyDennisWF #rewilding

While the world celebrates Rewilding Day it seems astonishing that @HorshamDC is still considering building over a unique nature corridor that would link rewilding at Knepp with St Leonard's Forest and beyond #savewestgrinstead @KneppSafaris #rewilding savewestgrinstead.eaction.org.uk/action
