We were thrilled to join HRH The Prince of Wales on a visit to Wistman's Wood #NationalNatureReserve in #Dartmoor yesterday. We're working with @duchyofcornwall, farmers and @dartmoornpa to regenerate this rare temperate rainforest and greatly expand the reserve.

Happy #WinterSolstice! The stones at @EH_Stonehenge have silently marked the shortest day of the year for more than 5000 years. In this unusual year of 2020 watch the Winter Solstice sunrise live-streamed across the world on @EnglishHeritage at 8:04 GMT.

We are working hard to restore nature and mitigate the harm done by air and water pollution. It's disappointing that there has been more misleading media coverage this weekend about our work. Especially on achieving nutrient neutrality and on our role on air quality. 🧵️ 1/4

Working closely with @EnvAgency we carried out a thorough investigation into damage to the River Lugg. We welcome today’s sentence and hope this is a stark warning to others that we will take the strongest action to uphold protections for our wildlife.
Today, landowner John Price was sentenced to 12 months' imprisonment for the destruction of 1.5km of the protected River Lugg. Together with @NaturalEngland, we welcome this sentence and will continue to work hard to restore the health of our rivers. 📰: gov.uk/government/new…

Have you seen your first #snowdrop yet? Their leaves have hardened tips to break through frozen soil, and their sap contains a form of antifreeze to prevent ice crystals forming. They start to flower between now and April - making them a sign that spring is on its way 🌞

Birds are still ‘romancing the hedgerows’ 🌹❤️ & many still have chicks to feed. All wild birds are protected, intentionally harming birds or nests whilst in use/being built is illegal. Pls leave hedges & scrub/bush cuts til after August & check before you cut.
