Always great to talk to the best people when it comes to behaviour And this was definitely no exception
This is an absolutely superb episode for anyone who is trying to understand why the young people you are teaching or leading are behaving in the way they are. There are also useful tips and guidance. Well worth tuning in to #TinyVoiceTalks tinyvoicetalks.buzzsprout.com/1267127/135509…

So for kids who've been in school we have learned that; in smaller groups, vertically streamed, with less academic pressure, without uniform and a relational approach from staff. Children who normally struggle have thrived. So why are we so determined to go back to how it was?

I know Boris Johnson and Liz Truss get the headlines But has anyone really done more damage than Michael Gove?
In 2012 ⁦@michaelgove⁩, then SoS for Education, brought in legislation which prevents councils from building special schools. He was warned this would have disastrous consequences. He didn’t listen. This is the result. theguardian.com/commentisfree/…

"When a child is in a state of fear, their functional IQ can drop up to 40 points. If a child is in a state of terror, their IQ can drop up to 50 points." -Dr. Bruce D. Perry @BDPerry This information should get way more coverage

Let's be perfectly honest, if you are excluding a 5 year old, you haven't tried everything and it's not a last resort

Detentions for; Being 11 and not having a second pencil Being a 12 year old boy making a silly face to a friend on a corridor Forgetting a rubber Not making eye contact This isn't about high expectations, it's control, just one of the many false narratives being pushed...

Okay Twitter I need some help from the autism community. Daniel is too big for his current wheelchair and has consequently wrecked his shoes. They are the only ones he will wear we've had the same pair in every size for 5 yrs. If anyone has any size 2 or above we are happy to pay

I don’t want 5-year olds to meet more demanding standards I want them to learn through play But then I have some understanding of child development

We have drawn on the evidence for ‘sustained shared thinking’ and 5-year-olds are now expected to meet more demanding standards:
