I’m planning a summer road trip through Montana, South Dakota, Wyoming, Minnesota, Wisconsin & Michigan. My kids haven’t been on one in years, and I want to make it memorable. Can I get your recommendations for special places to stop? Little restaurants, pubs, historic sites?

What?! I’m so mad for you. Who does that?

The good news from hallmark is that all you have to do to get the girl is really nail the lumbersexual look.

No one wants to admit that the thing they find “immodest” about breastfeeding has nothing to do with skin. They find the biological nature of humanity, its raw reality, disgusting. It’s motherhood itself in all of its vulnerability & abundance that repulses them.

I’m starting to feel like most of the meds they offer for pregnancy woes are just sleep aids. They don’t cure the nausea or the migraines, they just make you sleep through it. I was given something that made me unresponsive for 16 hours and unable to care for my older children.

The name of the drug was Phenergan. Not only did it knock me out, but it completely dried up my milk supply for my older baby. They didn’t think that would be relevant to mention.

I had an epiphany last night that it is entirely ok to stop making foods the authentic way and start making them the 5 ingredient midwestern 9x13 way and that there’s no authenticity police watching from above.

That’s why I don’t have voice mail set up on my phone. Haven’t for years because I just don’t like it. I decided that it’s ok to start my eccentricity early.

I want to offer some general marriage advice in the hopes that it’s helpful to balancing the recent duty sex discourse. Might delete later. 🧵

I am a mother of teenagers, and I still care about things like breastfeeding and cosleeping, because I see them as the foundation I built everything upon. It was the hardest thing I’ve ever done, but I can see the fruits 16 years later.

Every time you move your family you cut off a root. I moved so often as a child I have no feeling of place in the world and a deep sense of being untethered, adrift. It’s psychologically devastating, especially in your 20’s as you hunt for purpose and start having babies. (1)

Be learning skills and reading hard books now before you have a baby and life gets busier. Your greatest resource is time and energy. Use it to learn everything you can. A rich intellectual inner life will give you courage to keep going through every decade’s challenges.

It’s assumed that moms are constantly driving & that babies can be strapped in for hours & it needs to stop. The burden of driving should be on people who don’t have small children. I want a world where every service comes to you. Doctors, mechanics, piano teachers, everybody.
