I wrote a thing about military physician pay. Sneak preview: it’s not good for any specialty for early career physicians and it’s still bad for late career physicians in 67% of specialties!
Do the benefits of being a military physician or dentist outweigh the pay differential? How big a difference is it, anyway? whitecoatinvestor.com/how-much-do-mi…

I had a resident today sheepishly ask permission about taking time off to attend his brother’s wedding. This was my response. I’m working on applying it to my own life but struggling. #lifeworkbalance

Doing the most useful thing an orthopod can do when they’ve had 6 cases canceled due to Covid in a 10 day stretch! #donateblood

Huge thank you to everyone who reached out to check on me today and offered to help! Had a little cancer scare a few months ago and today was hopefully the final step in making sure everything was clear! Please do your cancer screening! Gentlemen, check your balls!

Full disclosure: this conversation happened several months ago. I delayed posting it to minimize the odds of any idiots thinking poorly of that resident and knowing who they were. Thank you all for the amazing responses. May we all have the strength to truly live this way!

Imagine the bad luck to have had a clavicle injury and a collarbone injury🤣

Ortho staff looking for good articles to go over with residents and med students or for themselves during the COVID lockdown, I’ve downloaded and organized the 2020 ABOS Web-based Longitudinal Assessment articles into a google drive. Feel free to share! drive.google.com/drive/folders/…

I understand your thought process and felt the same way as a resident but as a staff I can tell you that there will always be cases you’ve never done before and you’ll figure them out. A rested and not burned out resident/surgeon is better than one who has seen everything.

Found a Peacock Mantis Shrimp today while lobstering! Thankfully I avoided his punch and got him back in the water so someone else can see him some day!

Congrats to those who matched Ortho! It’s the greatest specialty in the world! #orthomatch For those #unmatchedMDand #unmatchedDO ,I’m sorry. I’ve been there. Here’s my experience and my advice: I didn’t get match coming out of med school. Did a Gen Surg internship. (Thread)
