Net worth surveys of physicians in their 60s, generally at the end of a 30+ year career, show that one-quarter of them have a net worth of less than $1 Million, and 12% have a net worth of less than $500,000! Why do you think such a large proportion of late career physicians

Where did all these people with chest pain and belly pain go? Because they are no longer in my ER. It’s amazing how much less health care people consume when they are motivated not to.

Hospital CEO compensation up 93%, doctor compensation up 15-26% over a decade, nurses up 3%. On average, CEOs make 5X what the orthopedic surgeons make and 44X what the nurses make. You can't make this stuff up. Imagine 44 more nurses on your unit.

We should probably quit saying “We’re out of hospital beds” and start saying “We’re out of hospital nurses.” Then maybe society will start finding ways to fix the real issue. Let’s be honest—there are plenty of beds and it is easy to get more. Far easier than training nurses.

Most people think they want to be a millionaire, but what they really want is to spend a million dollars. It gets really confusing until they realize those two things are polar opposites. You literally become a millionaire by NOT spending a million bucks you could have spent.
