Research in our lab will bring together tools and perspectives — from systems and computational neuroscience, physiology, genomics, and biochemistry — to study how animals learn from feedback from the gut (and other organ systems). I will be recruiting lab members at all levels!

Briefly, we found that postingestive visceral malaise signals specifically reactivate the amygdala’s representation of a recently consumed novel flavor, and that this serves to stabilize that flavor’s neural representation when the aversive memory is retrieved days later. 2/4
