    Quick thinking transit workers helped riders escape after gunfire erupted on an N train pulling into the 36th Station. Riders were whisked away on an R train that was across the platform. Shout out to the Conductors and Train Operators on both trains.

    With just one car in the station, a Conductor and Train Operator quickly & safely evacuated more than 100 riders from their No. 1 train when confronted with dangerous flooding at 28th St. They couldn’t wait for police and FDNY to arrive. You need 2-person crews for emergencies

    It takes a TWU team. Conductor Francis (photo left) handled the crowd in the back 5 cars of the train. TO Roman managed the first five. Single-file evacuation to the first car - the only one in the station - then to the platform. More than 100 riders evacuated quickly/safely.

    Train Operator Hopeton Kiffin acted quickly today, stopping his train & rescuing autistic boy on the tracks at Hoyt Street in Bklyn. Pres Tony Utano: "This could have been a terrible tragedy if not for the alertness and professionalism of our Train Operator."

    Gov. Cuomo singled out Transit Workers as “doing heroic work” in his daily press conference from Albany this morning. He noted that transit workers have a “very high rate” of illness due to the Coronavirus, and he personally thanked TWU and the workforce for its heroic efforts.
